Making a Tutorial

As the title states, I'm looking to string together all my short strat and optimization videos into a more coherent form, with full commentary. I've done quite a bit of testing with this over the past few days, and I hope to get it out soon.

I'm not sure, but it seems that the bosses in the Japanese release are slightly easier than the North America release. I notticed that in the JP Nebula doesn't do her bat attack so often as in the NA Version. Also, a couple other bosses feel a little less agressive and have less RNG variation.

Am I right? Am I wrong? Maybe it's just me, I don't know '-'

I've only done testing for the U.S. version thus far, and something like that is definitely worth looking into. If this turns out to be true, it would confirm JP as the fastest. You would save significant time on Sasquatch, Blackheart, and Thanos, at the very least.

Ok, so there appears to be no significant difference between the U.S. and JP versions. I found that the bosses seem to have the same amount of patterns, and behave the same way in both. The JP version is technically faster, but by a negligible amount, maybe one or two seconds over the course of the run. There also seems to be no significant difference between emulator and console. A breakdown of the textbox differences is below.

Castle Doom - 3 boxes JP, 4 boxes EN Boston - 2 boxes JP, 4 boxes EN Asteroid Belt - 3 boxes JP, 5 boxes EN Arizona - 2 boxes JP, 3 boxes EN

Smelly_Mctroll,

Do the U.S version give you any "extra" textbox at some point?

Only one or two, depending on the stage, it's due to the text being larger.

So it already means a minor time saving on playing the japanese version =)

Hello felllows WeaponLord and Smelly_McTroll. Figured I should introduce myself in here.

The way I work is: I use emulator snes9x v1.53, and I never do any kind of dirty practice. I don't use savestates, throttle or anything like that. I do, however, steal strats from other people in addition of my own. I mean, I had a 28:50 before I even streamed on Twitch.

Thanks to strats I borrowed from Smelly and Lockheart_93 (another Brazilian runner who used to run this game), I now have Wolverine as the character of choice for Alaska. I had no idea his special move could be used like that, especially against the Sasquatch. Nebula is now easier than ever, and Thanos can be taken down rather easily, without any punches.

More ideas will be developed by ourselves, and let's see how close to TAS (which is 18:3x) we can get. Maybe combo cancelling against Magus?

Thanks for your attention :D

(and yes, I play japanese version. Glad it's faster, like it usually is with these old games)

I wouldn't call it stealing strats. I think we share them for the whole, albeit small at this point, community to use. I started using your Hulk strat on Thanos because it's much more consistent.

In the tutorial I'll explain all the current strats, and some odd situations that you'll want to avoid. I look forward to digging in deeper to try and find some new stuff too.

It's up finally, under the "guides" section.

Awesome, Smelly. I've recently got more in contact with LRock617, and he claims to have interest in running this game too, along with StuntCoyote. I'll be sure to push the time even further. 24 doesn't sound easy though.

Yeah, I feel like this game can be optimized quite a bit further. It will be good to get some new runners in, to have fresh perspectives. Lrock said he was waiting for the tutorial to go up.
