After watching the current WR for the Any% Multiplayer category (here : https://www.speedrun.com/run/8m7o0ewy), I found it really stupid : Luigi spent the ENTIRE RUN in a bubble while Mario was basically doing the level alone. What's the point of a multiplayer run then ? There's no interaction between them, just Mario doing a solo run and Luigi pressing A at the beginning ...
That's why I think these kind of run should no be allowed in Any% Multiplayer. Yes, technically it's a 2 player run, but in fact it's just a solo run, not interesting at all to watch. If you want a true 2 player run, just watch the second video, here we have a true interaction, and use the bubble only when necessary.
And by the way, why is proof required only for the WR ? I could technically said I've done a 26:36 multiplayer run and if you follow your rules you'll have to validate it.
I suggest the prohibition of the use of "A". I know, it should be allowed to press A if it´s actually necessary but the problem is that this would be subjective rule, banning the mere use of it would be much better. Just a suggestion By the way, where is that "Any% Multiplayer" category? I haven´t found it and i was planning to run it
Oh ok. I Think that it should like that you Can only Enter your bubble if you're saving yourself from dying or if When you just died (you fly back on the screen in your bubble after dying)
What are the chances the person playing with you will even compare to your skill? Just stick with the bubble, and come out when necessary.
You could also make an extra category for people that actually want to run multiplayer
What about variables? There could be 2 Players and 1 Player 2 Controllers for playstyles.
Alright lads so as one of only 2 people who actually developed strats for the category, I think I have some insight. 1).Any level where Luigi has to bubble, there is an underlying strat and you can see that in 5-4 mainly, where he strategises where he will bubble. In Multiplayer, cycles are different to single player and that's also dependant on when my buddy bubbles. 2). I can almost guarantee that if he and I were not to use the bubble, ngl, we would still have WR by a large margin and 3). What is the point of complaining when the current rules just makes the category easier and more accesible.... but sorry for trying to play optimal, I'll go slower next time
EDIT: Also it's a huge meme anyway, this entire forum thread is almost 100% pointless but lol WR matters too much for it to be not important
Just create a new category called "any% multiplayer without pressing a". I would greatly appreciate this as there are obviously people who want this category and it would be simple enough to create. I had been looking to do a run with my friend and it would be extremely boring if one of us was in a bubble the entire time. Thank yiu for your consideration.
