Fastest Platform?

So I recently decided to give Twisted Metal 2 a shot, and spent about 3 hours seeing what I could do on a pretty easy category before deciding whether I wanted to dive deeper into this game. I felt like I had a decent run and got 4th place and went to compare to WR to see what I could've done better..

After comparing vs WR I found that right off the bat before getting to make an input I had already lost 5 seconds.

I quickly realized where I lost most of my time..

Opening Loading WR 12.86 PB 18.20 +5.34 End of Los Angeles WR 21.83 PB 28.04 +6.21 End of Moscow WR 23.48 PB 30.14 +6.66 End of Paris WR 23.57 PB 29:85 +6.28 End of Amazonia WR 23.40 PB 30.25 +6.85 End of New York WR 23.20 PB 30.52 +7.32 End of Antarctica WR 24.43 PB 31.88 +7.45 End of Holland WR 24.70 PB 32.10 +7.40 End of Hong Kong WR 8.87 PB 11.29 +2.42 End of Dark Tooth WR 10.53 PB 11.08 +0.55

As a result I lost +56.48 seconds throughout the run simply from loads.

So my question is, is emulator fastest? and is that fair to runners that are running the game on official equipment?

Good post, good research. I'm not sure if one version is faster than another. If that can be confirmed though, I don't think it's unfair to separate the runs and wouldn't be opposed to it.

I tested some times to show a better understanding of load times.

These are all loading the first level with Axel selected.

PS3 with Disc: 19s PS3 with PSN: 18s PS2 Fast Disc Speed: 10s PS2 Normal: 16s PS1 Fat: 20s PS1 Slim: 20s

I did not test TM2 for PC as the game would not work for me, but the game has to load textures every time you load a level, so I'm pretty sure it's even longer of a load time for whatever reason.

For EMU times, just look at everyone elses runs.

You could use a PS2. PS2 is the fastest way to run the game and it's an actual console. PS1 is by far the slowest way to run the game. It's true for almost every PS1 game. Not just the TM games.
