WTH happened to the WR?

I guess this has already been asked but I was not able to find the thread. The Any% record has been held by a Polish guy I forgot the nick of. What happened and why his runs are nowhere to be found? :O

Germany

Apparently Slimoleq (or someone with access to his accounts) has deleted his speedrun.com account & runs, all his Youtube Videos ( https://www.youtube.com/user/Slimoleq/videos ) and his Twitch Accoun ( https://www.twitch.tv/slimoleq )

I don't know why either and no one I have talked to has heard anything form him.

Wow, that sucks... I hope he turns up soon. His runs are pretty legendary.

Germany

He posted on twitter that he deleted them, because he is taking an extended break: https://twitter.com/Slimoleq/status/964963195940167680

That is not a proper thing to do IMO. Not taking a break, that is fine. I also do not contest his right to deactivate his accounts. However, his times are ours as much as they are his. People who speedrun this game deserve to have these in the leaderboard. You cannot just erase history like that. I know it is not the end of the world but these records are important for D2 speedrunning in general IMO and I think we should ask Speedrun.com administration to restore them despite the lack of account behind it. I think Narcissa Wright's Ocarina of Time times are on Speedrun.com despite the lack of account behind them.

I agree that a full-on delete approach is extreme, but he's free to handle his records and accounts as he wishes. Whether you or I would handle it the same way is, at the end of the day, irrelevant. It's a game, and he can come back any time to reclaim his spot, but he'll have to grind it out again because he basically trashed all the evidence. That said, if the admins want to take action and go to an archive, It should go through Slimo first, in my opinion.

Sometimes we just need to step back and recharge. I hope this break serves him well.

I don't know what made him do this and I am not sure how deleting all of your runs, accounts and videos helps you recharge. I hope Slimo has a good time taking a break but certainly cannot agree that a runner should be able to just erase his times from the site. Usain Bolt cannot just go public and say "Oh, guys, for some reason I do not want to be the record holder on 100m so please forget I claimed the record at all." The fact that 100m runs are a lot more popular than D2 runs and are a social phenomena more or less is completely irrelevant. The logic behind one or the other is the same. I feel that Speedrun.com needs do not use its right to keep track on the runs that happened and preserve speedrunning history. Otherwise it just is not different than a Fb group of people that have the same hobby.

Slimoleq says he cheated?:

How did he cheat, do you know Teo? Was he splicing?

Bulgaria

Thank you for the try Teo. I am not sure what happened to Slimoleq. I am not sure whether I really believe he cheated or if it is a "Leave me alone" message but anyway. It would have been good if he at least said how he cheated so that you are prepared when approving runs the next time.

Hello, Slimo here, i wrote an explaination regarding whole situation, you guys've been pretty close anyway from what i see, hehe

That is the right decision, Slimo! I am sure that you will achieve good times ones again but I cannot say that I am 100% happy to see you back. I think the way you handled the situation was improper. Sorry to say it and hope that your new runs and streams will outshine what you did about two months ago. Wish you all the best!

Slimo, will you tackle other classes ? Lol

What are those? :thinking_face_emoji:

Germany

@KimoXvirus his old runs have been tainted bus his actions - they stay "banned" here - he also has his vods and he said himself its fine that they are not the "wrs" anymore
