Hello I'm new to speedrunnjng and I was wondering about some stuff. The first thing is can you record with a normal camera and do i have to have a timer displayed or can you guys time it because I'm trying to think how I would set up a timer.

I think that time is required when you submit a run. Worst case scenario, just use a clock and take note of when the run starts and ends.

Having a time on screen isn't a ??????????? but it helps a lot with verification. A camera pointed at a screen is perfectly fine in terms of video proof.

If setting up a timer is a problem for you I'd suggest you just skip that part
