How to make speed running more exciting

I’ve been speed running a game and I haven’t had anyone to compete against. It’s not the worst thing in the world but I wish there was a way to make it more exciting since it’s just me. Any thoughts?

I know how you feel. I've been the only runner for Buffy The Vampire Slayer on original xbox for almost 2 years. BTW what game are you ta talking about?

I completely get you, there's one small game which I run, but it's inactive, would be nice to have competition :D

You could try and ask people if they would like to run your game

@Patrick_Barrett I’m running Medal Of Honor Vanguard lol.

@Komrade you’re right lol.

I moderate and some games where I am the only runner, so I can understand. Unless you can get other players to run your game, don't count too much on other people. There are a lot of games with only one active runner.

Some suggestions: You can try to improve and beat your previous times by treating your past self as the "opponent", you can mess with the game yourself to try finding new strats/faster routes, and you can spice up the game by making new categories or challenges (like not using a certain game-mechanic, killing all enemies, not killing any enemies, etc)

Given how long speedrunning as been a thing, if there was a way to make it more exciting, it has already been done. Ex: Smallant seems to be doing fun things with speedrunning with BotW and Mario Odyssey. Maybe look there for some inspiration.
