Edit: this does not include the way beliefs changed eg: nobody cared about LGBTQIA+ until like 2020
So true! I used to not care about peoples sexualities before, but after 2020 I realized that deep down I am actually a #homophobe #bigot

I don't know what you exactly mean, but you are completely wrong. Since the 90's (not even 2010's!) when people were speedrunning Doom and Quake, Luck and Skill was always involved...So is the same today, the difference is that we have more tools to gather information and learn about games, so the learning processs became way quicker and simplier. In any case, runs in 2021 still have luck involved (when a luck factor is present, like in an rpg or games with random enemy/platform patterns, for example).

Also, I don't understand why you said ''nobody cared about LGBTQIA+ until like 2020'' . Not only this has nothing to do with your argument, but it comes off as very disrespectul in my opnion.

Google Trends actually seems to support the speed run -> speedrun shift. In web searches, the terms start to tie in 2017 and speedrun pulls ahead in 2020. With YouTube searches the change happened between 2014 and 2015.
