Why choose speedrunning?

depressed trolls, all of em banned

I'm really sorry if I said something wrong. Please know that I wasn't intending to say anything from malicious intent, but was honestly hoping to create discussion around what people find enjoyable when it comes to speedrunning. Apologies again.
and the very few people who post here, actually don't care about them
Where did you decipher this from? Many people on these forums (timmiluvs, howdenking, tron_javolta, xdrhelix, and racingmonster, to name a few) actively help people who post on here.

E: Unless you're talking about people who shitpost with meme threads, which then I almost see your point. But those people are usually either banned or their posts are deleted or locked.

I'm going to go against the hivemind and say that you guys are being too protective over your opinions to rightfully call this person a loser. It looks like they just want to discuss speedrunning from a different perspective.

Freddie, I'd say that the enjoyment of speedrunning comes from competition and learning. It's fun to play the game, develop strategies, share those strategies, and compete with others to be the very best like no one ever was.

Dude just wanted to know why we enjoy something, that's a reasonable discussion for someone that just joined speedrun.com and is possibly getting into it, pretty lame to jump to the conclusion he's a troll if he hasn't even shat on anyone's opinions yet

After being called out like that I understand why it was deleted, I've done the same thing on reddit before to reduce further backlash from defensive people, why would he not delete his apology message too then? Clearly it was meant with good intentions until proven otherwise, from what I remember of the original post it read nothing like that

If I recall that was an actual thread calling out whether speedrunning was worth it and an opinion pusher hence the title, this guy only asked why we do it, I know it has been done plenty of times before, that doesn't mean we can shit on a potential new runner asking the same question and not realizing who just wanted to start a discussion (people can be a bit more creative and dig deeper than "because we enjoy it." for a discussion), all I'm getting to is give the benefit of the doubt until it's pretty obvious it's a troll

I know that, FreddiePotato has yet to do that, if a question like what he asked though irks people that much then there's no need for a response, just ignore the thread

I like to try it out for a challenge and I got bored. Didn't even know speedrunning existed until I heard of Werster though. And after watching videos I just thought "Why not try it myself" and started to play for speed and practising techniques recently. The next step is streaming or uploading videos of course.

Basically, I see a potential challenge and want to try it. Eternal curiosity here.
