New to speedrunning, question about JJ 100%

I was wondering what constitutes a 100% Jiminy Journal run, and if a not-set-in-stone explanation is why that section in the NA version of KH 1 is empty (since there's no real way to track things NOT in the journal, like chests and whatnot)

In KH1, the Journal tracks 6 things:

  • Trinities
  • Puppies
  • Minigames (attempting, a certain score not needed)
  • Ansem Reports
  • Story
  • Characters including heartless and bosses

So, things like Chests and Keyblades aren’t needed to complete the Journal because they aren’t tracked - you just need to complete what is tracked. This basically boils down to needing to complete every world while getting all of the little side quest collectibles and beating every boss/at least one of each heartless.

In the Final Mix versions of the game, the game provides a little Mickey head next to the Journal in the menu if you check it after completing it. This allows you to know and verify you got JJ 100%.

In the original KH1 English and Japanese, there is no Mickey symbol so you have to manually check each page to make sure nothing is missing. The reason the category is empty on KH1 English is because nobody has done a run of JJ 100% on that version yet. (In general the PS2 versions aren’t run very often because of the inability to skip cutscenes making the run much longer).

Hope that answers your questions!

This absolutely answers my questions! I was planning on doing a 100% Jiminy Journal run on stream for the Extra Life charity event tonight/tomorrow, wondered what the record was and stumbled upon the empty leaderboard here, and was perplexed, but it makes sense. I have a timer, ready to record, and have everything I need listed out now thanks to your information :D Thank you very much!

GL on the run, hope it goes well.
