Wii Hacking Questions

Ever since I began speedrunning OOT Any%, ive always wanted a better and more "legit" way to play the game and record it like using an N64 or Wii or whatever. I actually could buy a japanese copy of the N64 release, but im pretty sure the n64 is region locked. I also own the Virtual console copy on my wii, but its in english which is so significantly slower to run its not even worth it. I got the homebrew channel and the homebrew browser but thats pretty much useless for playing wads and stuff like that. I have the japanese wad of OOT but i cant for the life of me figure out how to actually play it on a wii... im pretty sure you use something called wad manager but i couldnt figure out how to install that cause all the tutorials i watched did a (for a lack of better words) terrible job of explaining it in general.

If someone could help me figure out how to play the japanese wad or maybe even change the language of the US copy i have (which i doubt), i would appreciate it a lot.

Thank you for your time, -Marthur

I´m able to play japanese OOT and MM on my european Wii. The sound is bad, but everything else works. I wrote down how to do it somewhere, but I need to search it. I´ll tell you how to do it after I found it. I remember that you need priiloader, which you can install with homebrew.

Here´s what u need to do:

  1. make sure you have enough empty space on your intern wii storage, e.g. erase the Internet channel 2.Download any Zelda no Densetsu toki no Okarina v1.2 wad and put it on your SD card 3.Download d2x-cios, wad installer and priiloader and put it on your SD card, too.(if you have one or two already installed you don´t need them again)
  2. install priiloader with homebrew 5.open d2x-cios in homebrew and write it from 58 to 249 or leave it on 249 if it already is. 6.open wad manager in homebrew, select 249 as cios, disable NAND, select SD card, find wad in the list and press A to install. power of your Wii. You might have to pull the cable out of the socket for that.
  3. Power on your Wii and immediatly hold reset untill the priiloaderscreen apears. In priiloader you can thenRegion free all channels to launch the game from the Home menu. Select launch title and select Zelda Ocarina of Ti(NARJ). If something goes wrong launch the wad manager from priiloader and uninstall the wad. I can´t give a guarantee that it works. You should find download links in all the discussions about this theme good luck

I just run with a gamecube controller on pj64 on pc, since pausing when i play on homebrew takes like 5 seconds each time until im actually in the pause screen, and the gake itself is super laggy sometimes. That might just be an issue i have though

Adding onto 7hornet for completeness and future reference, if you are a PAL Wii owner, you also need to get AnyRegion Changer to change your Video Mode from PAL to NTSC.

How to get JP version on Wii VC: http://forums.zeldaspeedruns.com/index.php?topic=1271.0

The sound issue is because you're playing an NTSC (60Hz) game while your (European) Wii is in PAL (50Hz) mode. You can use AnyRegionChanger () to switch your Wii from PAL to NTSC mode and vice versa. If you use Priiloader to get your Wii region free, you don't need to mess with any other settings (like language or other Wii menus).

Muted Audio on Twitch Highlights

Recently, many longer runs submitted as Twitch highlights have had parts of their audio muted due to Twitch's automatic copyright detection, the most frequent case being long sections of Lost Woods music. Some vods will even give a network error at these parts which can cause several minutes of foot
