4-Bump Method (Safer alternative to 3-bump)

Bump on the wall after the pit, the one before the elevator, and the two pipes before the pipe you go into. If you do this right, you can do the wrong warp easily!

@ultimate_YO No, but I am planning to stream on Twitch Any% attempts. I will use this method.

I feel like it might be more worthwhile to learn a 3 bump method. There are a lot of different combinations of 3, some of which being very beginner friendly.

Doing four-bumps for the wrong-warp is redundant. You have at most 10 pixels to get the wrong-warp to work if you did a three-bump method, I don't see how having 20 pixels of leeway would be beneficial.

@JJReed I can stream some variations of the 3 bump method because some are harder than others and I understand why you would need to do 4 bumps but there are easier 3 bump methods that tie the traditional 3 bump strat and you have plenty of pixels to go down the pipe

4 bumps is redundant because i almost 100% never get 7 pixel from a bump. theoratically you have a 33% that wrong warp happens on the first pixel, but i can gurantee that you'll have more pixels than 20 no matter what IF you do 3 bumps properly.

4 bumps isn't redundant. If you do 4 bumps, that's just fine, it loses at most .7. If you're just starting out, there's nothing wrong with doing 4 bumps. When I was racing in a tournament a few days ago, I did 4 bumps because there's so much leeway and you never get right warped. If you see someone doing 4 bumps, don't critique them. You can literally get 4:58 without anything super hard by doing 4 bumps in 4-2.

4:58 is too far. You couldn't still easily 4:58 with 4 bumps in 4-2 Doing 4 bumps will cost like 3 framerules probably, and when you go for 4:58 you need every reasonable framerule to get it (reasonable in this case means stuff like 200 8-1, 342 8-2, but no hard triccs) You could potentially at least 4:59 though with 4 bump in 4-2, but at that point you're better off doing 3 bumps because 4 bump cos lotsa time.

There's literally nothing wrong with taking your time in improving in this game. Most of us are here to have fun while enjoying ourselves improving at the game and watching our PB gradually decrease (except I'm not here to have fun, I'm here to get WR). Going far in this game is almost all about dedication, so if someone takes their time, that's fine, so long as they are still working at their goals they may have.

I may have decided to go for sub 5 as my first PB, but that was a choice I decided to make. If ya boi here wants to do 4 bumps in 4-2 and he has a 5:40 and wants to get a sub 5:30, that's his choice to make. Getting better at this game is almost all about dedication. I once decided to go from 4:59 to 4:56. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's goal is to have fun playing this game. I would recommend it to those who are dedicated to a goal and don't feel like progressing slowly or want to get that cool jump in time. Remember why you're playing. For fun, or for a goal, or for both? You can get both progressing the way you want to progress.

TLDR: 4 bump 4-2 is not redundant, 2 bump 4-2 is. 4:58 is not reasonable with 4 bump 4-2, you'll need to add BBG and 1 frame setup, 4:59 is. Are you here to have fun, or to achieve a goal, or both? You can get both playing however you wish, so long as you still move forward toward your goal and you are dedicated.
