Looking for games to run

I've been running a bit of Oracle of Seasons but it's very movement-optimization-based and I'm looking for a sub-1 hour or ~1 hour run that's more trick based. I loved running OOT because of all the tricks involved but that's behind me for many reasons. Any suggestions? Prefer retro or retro-esque games but ultimately just want a fun speedrun Thanks!

Any game you enjoyed. Before you get a good time, you have spend a lot of time in it.

If you enjoyed oot you may enjoy some n64 platforming games. There's also shantea well that is another performer, it is kind of hard to suggest games because most games have an element of movement optimisation :)

I'm not sure what you mean my "movement optimization based". I feel the vast majority of games require movement optimization.

Lol well obviously most games require movement optimization, I mean it's a turnoff for me when a game is mostly just optimizing the natural intended route. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that Thanks again for any suggestions

If you want to run a game that's trick based i'd suggest Battle For Bikini Bottom. Its around an hour to an hour and 30 minutes with constant tricks.theres plenty of tutorials out there and you can route out some of the harder tricks if you cant do them.

For all the times I've seen someone say "I only do/watch runs that have no glitches" I think this is the first time I've seen someone else say they prefer a run that has unintended strats and isn't just a fast let's play. Definitely how I feel as well, so fist-bump for you @long4got10

I'm not sure if you're interested as you said retro-like games, but I can tell you that Shadow of the Colossus uses unintended strats and tricks for all but just a few colossi. It isn't retro but it's a boss rush game full of tricks like AI manipulation, physics abuse. It does have certain routing to complete the tricks in most cases and it does require precision so I'm not sure if that goes against your wishes.

Either way, I hope you find a game you love playing!

I've never played Shadow of the Colossus but I've seen it played and thought it looked really cool. Never saw a speedrun of it, though. If my PC is capable of emulating it I'll definitely try to run it, thanks!

Unfortunately, the community doesn't allow emulated runs of it on the leaderboard but it's great for practicing! And the community is always down to help.

If you have a PS4, the new PS4 version comes out next month. I doubt the physics will be any different.

And, well, Dark Souls probably fits the definition of what you're asking for, if it's not 2hard4u (and even if it is, that goes away with time). The various categories have varying speed tech, but there's plenty of glitches and clips and wrong warps to be had.
