Hey, I made a patch that removes the disc drive check from zoton2's version of the Japanese gta-vc.exe. Just open gta-vc.exe in a hex editor, go to position 0x351AAE and replace 83 3D 08 D4 BC 00 00 0F 84 87 00 00 00 with 8B 0D 58 FA BC 00 C6 41 79 00 90 90 90

You're correct, it already comes with a no-CD patch. However, you still need a CD drive (even if it's empty) in order to start the game. Otherwise you'll get a "No CD-ROM Drive Found" error.

Thanks for this, will change the EXE within the updater and publish a new version.

Any chance you can find what I need to replace within the GTA3 JP No-CD to get rid of this from there too? I think that has the same issue. You can get it from within this ZIP (link).

You also have to replace F4 with 00 at 0x177AB8, otherwise a Japanese error message appears (probably because the game tries to find the CD that contains the audio files).

btw:

Some files cannot be converted when using the JP converter with the "trilogy" version of VC.

These files have a wrong source version: Audio\col3_23.wav Audio\col3_25.wav Audio\cub_3.mp3 Audio\hat_1.mp3 Audio\police.mp3 Audio\taxi.mp3 data\main.scm ReadMe\ReadMe.txt

And these are missing: Audio\cub2_3b.wav Audio\mob_29g.wav data\default.dat

no problem, can you upload the main.scm from the trilogy version of VC ? it might be the same as green pepper/japanese/mac version

I remember that the main.scm file of the trilogy version has a bug where the "Dildo Dodo" mission crashed at the cutscene.

Can you confirm that your version is uncensored and 100% unmodded? Are you 100% sure? Can you censor rampages by switching to German and uncensor by switching back?

Here's another patch: If you want to run the game from drive A: or B: replace 43 with 41 at offset 1D74E4.

This is hilarious because I was trying to launch the game from an A: drive not too long ago, and was bewildered as to why it wouldn't work. I'm not old enough to remember that A: and B: were often floppy drives.
