Potential rule change: disallowing emulators

The loads seem a bit slower for emulator than console by around two frames EDIT: Around one frame actually

Does it mean we could restrict the version of the emulator and the emulator itself? (meaning we keep the lb as it is)

Loads were literally never the issue.

What is the issue? It's not lag, because lag doesn't give emu players an advantage. It's not inaccuracies, because there are no inaccuracies that give emu players an advantage. It shouldn't be simply the fact that it's an unofficial console, because if the above are true it's literally the exact same game, and even though the use of emulators is "illegal" (let's be honest, it's not a very strictly enforced law) if you don't own a copy, the speedrun itself doesn't change. It's still a speedrun of the same game performed by a human with video proof. So it makes no sense that a Ieaderboard for speedruns would reject a run not because it's cheated, or because it doesn't follow the rules, but because it's played on an unofficial console.

From what it seems, there is literally no advantage if you are running on emulator. If anything there is just a disadvantage because of input delay and lag if you dont have a high end pc. If there is no advantage, then literally what is the point of banning it. Most of everyone that wants to ban it are elitists who have no reason for banning it.

I wasn't gonna do another post but I do wanna clear up the facts. Instant turning around means a faster 1-t (among other levels) and the faster mashing saves time on 8-2.

And you can splice runs...

Let's do a seperate leaderboard

pls just have it as it is :D

lets just have a separate leaderboard. i honestly do not care if it is not has competitive i really just love speedruning this game and the only way i can record it is with an emulator. I do not want to stop doing speedruns of this game, so if you need to make a separate category for the emulators and stuff please do. but do not ban emulators.

Even if you just prop your phone up on like, a book or something and record that way they'll still accept it.

Yeah my runs are recorded pretty bad but it still works. I don't think emulators will be banned soon but official console is the best way to play

I can mash at over 15 per second relatively consistently in 8-2 and I can do instant turnarounds on DS, its not that hard. the real problem with emu is just some of the inconsistencies. we should keep old emu runs for historical purposes (such as ILoveSMBs 23:29) but we should create a tab thingy board split thing for EMU imo

If you're gonna separate the runs you gotta move the old ones. The whole point is that it's not fair to compare emu runs with actual console runs.

We were talking about this on the discord server, and I posted a message regarding "the right to speedrun". I think it should be added to the discussion here on the forum:

In my opinion, speedrunning is not a basic human right that should be granted to everyone. If you can't afford the game, or your parents don't allow you to own a gaming system, then sorry but you might not be able to speedrun. It sucks, but speedrunning is not a right; it's a hobby that includes a small entry fee.

A problem with separating emu onto another tab thingy is that most people would ignore the runs in the other sections, and it wouldn't be fair to those runners
