Is a virtual machine allowed?

Are you allowed to run your game on a virtual machine? The game I'm going to run simply does not work on my windows 7 and if possible I would rather not dual boot a windows XP.

I think it's allowed in general, but if your game is already on the site, i recommend asking in the game's forum, or contacting the mods to ask them, just in case.

No, it's black and white which is not on here yet. I'm new to this website. Would you mind telling me how I contact a mod? I don't really see where I can find a list of moderator accounts or where you sent messages on this site.

Alright so, since the game isn't on the site yet, you will have to request it via this link: http://www.speedrun.com/requestgame

Ideally, you should include a link to a speedrun of it (if you have one ofc). If it gets accepted, you'll be mod for the game, you'll be able to approve and reject runs by others, and customize the leaderboard too.

As for messages, sadly, this is a feature that has been requested but still isn't implemented yet. Currently the best way to contact peoples is via :

  • Game forum if they're mod in it
  • Their twitter / youtube / twitch / whatever accounts

No, the site admins wouldn't really care. The game's community decides the rules for each game.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll record a run in the near future to submit with my game request and I'm sure if there's an issue I'll learn about it then.

England

Just to add, games may suffer from poor performance within Virtual Machines, if you're running on a low-spec PC. But, the only way is to see! Good luck with your runs!

Are you sure it really doesn't work on modern systems? I googled it and found several topics about it. Popular games usually have support of its community.
