What is the preferred way to Duo Speedrun? Do people use Realms or a 3rd party for server hosting or something else?
I personally use a server host. Realms aren't recommended cause they dont run on 1.16.1 which is required for the pearl drop rates. you could also host a server on your own PC if you have the spare RAM
Ah dang. It has to be 1.16.1? We shouldn't speedrun on any version after that?
@wumpledoof speedrunning on anything past 1.16.1 doesn't have good enough pearl trades to be do-able
@Maccysundae Sorry, another question. The rules say I need to show the seed box being empty for Random Seed. How do I do that if I'm using a hosted server? When recording, do I need to show on my server hosting site that it's random seed before playing?
It only says that the seed box needs to be left empty, just dont put anything in there, cause that would be set seed.
Yes but using a server hosting site there's no proof that the seed was left empty unlesss I show the control panel on the site?
I mean, as long as it's not a really good run, or it is kinda sus, they wont ask for proof it was a random seed
Question: On 1.16.1, using Sodium, how do people disable Dynamic FOV and remove fog? Is it using extra Fabric mods like custom FOV and noFog or is there a setting I've missed? I've seen Couriway's WR speedrun, he has no Dynamic FOV and no fog except a little in the nether.
You’re not allowed to disable fog. Couriway only appears to have fog in the nether because he has a very high render distance when in the overworld, which means the fog starts far away and is difficult to see.
It will be under a different category and version of the game, not Java Edition.
changing fov isn't a mod, it's changeable in vanilla. However, going something below or beyond the fov given in vanilla, is a mod
how long does it take for you to memorise everything e.g. where exactly the gold is in a bastion
well i searched google to see if the farland exist and no they dont :( so insted i will make a speedrun where i go to z 30000000000 y 30000000000 x 300000000000
@BadMethod , well that would depend on how much and how long you study bastions... as well as your own learning habits. We can't determine how long it takes for you to memorize something, but we can offer suggestions how you can study bastions.
First of all, join the discord. It's probably the number one thing to do whenever you need help, probably much better than forums.
Next, watch T_Wagz video on bastions and how to properly loot them. Some runners who are known for quick bastion looting includes Fyroah and Davie, so you should check them on twitch and catch one of their streams to learn further.
Finally, get on Minecraft and practice urself, there are also many modpacks that can help you with bastion training. You can find them on the speedrunning discord when you ask around
