Found a JP runner who was active in late 2020 who set tons of impressive times - some of which are still WR today. I've reached out to this player, will let you know if I hear back

Reading along in the comments for the videos is amazing. This player seems to have been a high-level or maybe even a time trial champion back during the game's release in 2000. They have listed some of their times from 20 years prior and most of them are extremely impressive.

Here's a Google Translated example from the description of an early Kyoto run on their channel:

I kept trying until I got the best time at the moment. In the future, I will do my best to update my personal best times below.

・Personal best that I wrote down about 20 years ago Kyoto JPN best time 1.02.96 1.03.33 1.03.36 best lap 20.11 Comments at the time: If it ran well, it would run in the 1.01 second range, and if it worked hard enough, it might even be possible to break the 1 minute mark.

・Please feel free to leave comments such as strategies, strategy routes, reports such as "how many minutes and seconds did you get", and small stories.Thank you very much.

Possibly the fastest known Kyoto times until very recently.

Runs appear to be run on N64 hardware based on details about the capture.

This probably isn't appropriate here but searching for other runners we missed brought me to this hilarious video(unironically a banger)

Edit: Here's another unreported runner

From their YT channel description, sent through Google Translate:

Challenge yourself 20 years ago! ! ~ Relaxing and having fun ~

2020 I made this channel because I wanted to start playing the game (Excite Bike 64) from 20 years ago for the first time in a while.

The record I was playing with at the time had already disappeared, but I found the memo I wrote the record on at the time. I saw the net news about the 20th anniversary of the Excite Bike 64 at just the right time. "I decided to try to beat my record 20 years ago." (Actually, the record was around 15-20 years ago. It was about 20 years ago because I felt like I was playing a little bit on a regular basis. (I'm exaggerating a bit.) The reason I quit was because I got too busy and didn't have time to play. It's like quitting.) I also want to know how many seconds the limit time of each stage game system is.

The record I made at the time was the record I made when I was a student, and I don't know how far I'll be able to go as I get older, or what the results will be, but I'd be happy if you could support me. I've never posted or edited a video before, so please understand that there are many things that I can't reach. I would like to do my best.

I am also doing Twitter. Please subscribe to our channel and follow us on Twitter.

Ultimately, the biggest goal is to update more than half of my past records, and gather as much information as possible, whether it's videos or twitter triggers. Also, if the Excite Bike 64 gets even a little bit of excitement and is remade, or if the Mini 64 is released, I think it would be good if it was included.

Here's another JP runner. A 2:02.68 on Blizzard Blitz from 2007! This route is different, too:

An update to what WR has been beaten (honestly should just take the time to add him to the leaderboard)

Mountain Quarry, Nashville, and Canyon Chasm (just not posted but did it live), were done by me,

Construction was just beaten by meauxdal.

4 down, 8 to go

Spreadsheet tracking the current WRs and best known times

In terms of race times, I've beaten the Japanese player's Rainforest Run and Long Island as well now

I've beaten all of this player's remaining WR times except for Blizzard Blitz now. Working on that one still

All of Past's (as well as the other JP runner in this thread) runs have been added to the leaderboards in the last week or so. I think we've got a good set of all the best known times historically now. I did a lot of searching but never came up with anything else, though I'm sure there were some great times set in the early 2000s that probably never had video evidence.
