Copying a settings-only save file for resets?

So, Simoteus has pointed out a great shortcut to me for restarting runs and I wanted to run it through the mods.

Basically, if you adjust your settings (Turbo and Controls), and exit the menu, the game creates a save file, even if no game has been started. You can copy that file and paste it to start a run with those settings already changed.

This doesn't affect the actual run time at all. These settings are changed before the timer starts. It also doesn't interfere with the run's official start time: when the save file notification disappears after selecting Nero. This notification still appears, even if you paste the save file.

Since this run usually requires several restarts to get a perfect Mission 2, this would save a bit of time and hassle while running. However, in the rules for this run, I came across this:

"Before turning on the timer, delete your old save-file and include the changes to your settings in the video, otherwise your run might be rejected."

Does this rule still stand in this case?

I say that it does. I don't want to have to deal with people modifying settings files on PC games.

It sucks but it only adds a few seconds to resets once you factor in that you need to manually copy over the setting file every time
