Emulator rule clarification

EDIT: The rules have since been changed and this post is not up to date anymore.

I clarified the rule regarding captured emulator footage to be "For runs using emulators the entire screen of the emulator used, including the window border, must be captured and the game must be visibly hard resetted before a run."

The reason for the existence of this rule is to weed out fake runs with less effort. You can still crop your video and put on YT or anywhere else if you'd like as long as you have an original containing what is asked of by this rule.

If anyone wants to know more or have a better suggestion then feel free to tell.

I made an amendment to the rule regarding emulators today. Technically all the rereleases on Wii VC, Gamecube, PS3, XBOX collections, Steam etc are emulators as well but I don't think anyone is arguing to ban the official ways of playing the game. Therefore I added the word "unofficial" when referring to legal emulators to use for competition. Official versions of the game are all fine provided they are unaltered.

Ok, so what if the emulator is on a console (E.g Homebrew on the Wii)? Will you have to record the video from the menu then load up the emulator?

England

Timpz specifically referred to unofficial emulators right above you. If you're going to go out of your way to run an unofficial emu from a homebrew software, then I don't even know wtfuck you're doing. Just play an official emulator version like Virtual Console if you're that adamant about playing on Wii.

England

Well, homebrew is the only thing i can us to do these runs.

Unless I find away that OBS won't run like crap on my desktop; this is gonna have to do, sorry.

France

Can someone explain to me how to capture the full window of the emulator with OBS please ? The rules of this game are such a pain...

United States

The emulator rule has since changed. You no longer need to capture the full window.

First paragraph of the current rules: "The following unofficial emulators are allowed: Regen, Kega Fusion and Genesis Plus GX. Links to these are in resources. For runs using emulators, the game must be visibly hard resetted before a run. Any use of a savestate after boot voids the run."

You just need to make sure to have a visible hard reset (with the text message from the emulator on the screen) at the beginning of the run and you'll be fine.

You are my hero man ! Thanks a lot :)
