New Categories/Rules

As you probably noticed I've made a few changes to the rules and added new categorises.

I had to address the issue of quitouts, resets, turning off the game (what ever you want to call it) to skip soul cutsense. Should it be allowed or not or a new category, please if you run Titan Souls I want to hear your opinion. As of right now I though it would be best to just make it a new category and wait to hear peoples opinion. To sum it up I made quitouts/reset not allowed in any category except the two new ones until we officially decide what to do. Also if you have better name ideas for the categories feel free to share :p .

If no Replies I'm going to assume everyone is ok with the changes

Also I had to change the All Bosses - Hard to Truth% - Hard because there is a secret boss on hard mode. To get to it go to the forest and go UP, RIGHT, RIGHT, UP, LEFT, RIGHT, UP its just Vinethesis with twelve vines but it is another boss. I added a new All Bosses -Hard category were you have to kill all twenty bosses, I know not alot of people run hard but I feel it was the right thing to do. As for routeing in Truth% you can get to Truth after 18 kills so its probably fastest to skip the ancient statue guy.

Have fun and good luck with your runs.

I may just be a scrub. But how is the resetting accomplished on ps4?

Canada

Hold the ps button then quit game and relaunch, but it's not worth it because it takes ~12sec to load on ps4 and only ~3sec on pc. I did some testing and its actually slower to do resets then not resetting on ps4.

Thats what I thought. So IMO. And you guys can give me your opinion. It seems like we should have 2 categories then. Lest we continue alienating platforms. The thought will almost be like a PC leaderboard and a PS4 Leaderboard, that way both platforms can still compete in all categories

If we split between resets and no resets, we might as well split PS4 and PC. These categories already kinda split between platforms. I doubt many PS4 runners wil do reset-any% if they are nowhere near competitive (and the same goes for PC on any%).

But, the PS4 boards may look empty if we do it. At the same time, "resetting" the boards for PC could attract new runners.

Edit: We could as well just ban quitouts. It also kinda punishes runners with slower PCs (e.g. no SSD).

I agree it will never be competitive between PS4 and PC because there isn't a category that not unfair to one or the other. But if I did separate the platforms would you want resetting in the pc categories? Also if someone on pc wanted to run no reset or vice-versa they should be able to no? I think it's better if there separated by circumstances and not actually not allowed, and can run the other categories if they wanted to.

I'm in favour of banning quitouts, (but my opinion is kind of biased) I would like to hear from a few more pc runner before a final decision is made.

Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to actually reset the boards, bad wording. And yeah, imo allowing quitouts results in a race of hardware, not skill. If people want to see themselves in first place, they might as well use the filters at the top : P

(Setting the reset category as misc. is also an option)

It's been a year.

I am in favour of banning hard-quits. Like I said, it's been a whole year since the category was split off, and no one has posted any reset% run since then.

Since then, we have also developed a high-risk high-reward ¤in-game¤ way of skipping the animation with the Risky Skip. I think removing the reset% categories would help tidy up the leaderboards.

It's been a busy month or so of Titan Soulsing for many! As I haven't heard anything about reset% I did indeed close the reset% 100% category.

As for the reset% any% category, there was one submitted run. I tried doing a run myself, and beat the time. Ultimately, I've made the decision to close the category.

If anyone wanted to bring back a category that used hard resets, then I think the only "fair" solution would be to measure by platform using igt, to eliminate the reboot time differences, but it would retain the lustre of really low times (sub10 igt isn't hard).

For now and going forward, hard resets are banned completely.
