I have a submission for the first situation speedrun for rainbow six but it was declined for not having a shown timer can anybody help me with that?
there is no reason a timer should need to be shown at all really, if the time seems off then the person verifying it can retime it
also for the record, their rules dont explictly state that a timer is needed on screen, therefore your run cant be rejected for not having a timer on screen.. https://imgur.com/a/ViGpP
It is recommended to have a timer in your run but this isn't mandatory.
I guess it's quite some work to retime the run without loads but this shouldn't be a problem. They voluntarily signed up to be a moderator and retiming is a part of being moderator ^^
I think it depends of the moderators.
Runners and mods are humans, so it's more like a deal with the whole community of a game to make it balanced and smooth : For example, your run is probably easier to check if your vod is decent quality, with a timer in addition. And so they can be quicker if numerous submits appear at the same time.
If I take another example, at the release of Super Mario Odyssey, if every runs were submitted without timer when they were raining by packs of 10, retiming would have been a complete mess.
Of course it's dumb if you reject a run because no timer, unless it's clearly written on the rules. But the fact that it's not said doesn't mean you should'nt. Everyone can do a little step to help making the interaction between mods and players smoother, especially if you appreciate the community.
i just think it wouldnt have been nice to state but I never thought about if the game was huge
A timer should NEVER be required for a run to be valid. Even if it says that a timer is required for runs to count in the rules, it is still dumb. If you can't take the time to retime runs yourself, then you shouldn't be a moderator.
