Depends on what your definition of notable is. We've got plenty of folks who have become memetic, though that's usually from the collection of legendary threads.

@moversdubai - moversdubai @Starsmilley - the real star @Jon_28 - Jon was hospitalized 28 times as a child. Children's National Hospital helped Jon restore his health and achieve his dreams of being an engineer and having a family. Let's create more bright futures. @j0n_29 - had his knees broke by fake star @horny4pony69 - if the name isn't enough, the post history will tell you all you need to know @EeeZeePeeZee08 - https://www.speedrun.com/introductions/thread/f0dxg @Cybertronlaser - (has one of the best posts on the entire forums) https://www.speedrun.com/smb1/thread/xgur2/1#yf7dp

There's some others I'm missing. I'm sure Merl has a list already.

I mainly got this idea from a thread where I think @Dare said we should have something like this.

I think I said more like a Wikipedia for Speedrunning. I know that exists somewhat but I think this site should have its own. Maybe there could be a "popular" users part of this site (most runs? Most forum posts? Most donated?).

In response to Dare: There are already leaderboards for most verified runs, most wrs and most runs, even though some are a bit outdated. This section used to exist but it was deleted, probably so people wouldnt use it to brag or feel bad because they were far from the top. The criteria to select what is a notable character or not is really subjective. For example, the 10th person with the most runs might think they are notable but someone else might differ and say that notable would be someone different like simply or liquidwifi with a big audience so people left out might feel insulted Also, theres many users in the site so keeping track of every notable user while including all communities is almost impossible

@Dare Not sure if any of those criteria work well. There's a few people who have huge run counts, only forum posters (who already know popular forum posters) will care about who has the most posts, and most donations says little about the donator's quality as a runner. What @ActuallyElite is suggesting is forum-specific, but we already have a most posts list anyway.

Creating an artificial barrier of "popularity" will only gatekeep and isn't worth the cost. If you want to recognize runners you enjoy, just talk about them.

While we are on the topic, is there a lb for most forum posts? Id like to see it if there is one. Dont worry about showing it to me if you think I will start spamming the forums bc I wont, I already keep track of other leaderboards such as runs and I want to have them all somewhere to provide information if someone asks me

I like the idea that quivico has suggested though, maybe a thread where we talk about speedrunners we like would be cool

@SioN The thread is here, with @1 providing an updated link here that isn't working for me at the moment.
