DE Elite (also my thoughts on the top 16 De players thread)

One of the members of the community, K_391, recently made a thread about the 16 best dragon escape players. The idea was that people would vote in a strawpole, and the top 16 would be said as the top 16 DE players.

First, I would like to thank K_391 for nominating me. I appreciate it :)

But, the nominations were not perfect. A lot of prominent players were not included, players such as SupermoarMC, and Flare (now Ryzal) were not nominated. In addition, some people that were nominated, although they are good, they are not quite good enough, in my opinion (not going to name names).

Last, strawpole votes are not exactally the perfect way to do a vote. People can rig voting by telling friends outside the community, and / or using vpns.

In my opinion, the best way to find out who the best Dragon Escapers are, would be to do something I have been thinking about. I would call it Dragon Escape Elite. DE Elite would be a system of tournaments that would systematically narrow down some of the best players, and would be more fair than a vote. For anyone whos interested, here is how it would work:

  1. To start off, there would be 16 preliminary tournaments, which would be a mix of most wins, elimination, and random team of 2. a. Most wins tourneys would be one hour of all the maps (in the order of oldest to newest) and in the end, the 2 people with the most wins, win. b. Elimination tourneys would be thirty minutes of maps, once you get a win, you start to spectate. After 30 minutes, there will be around 8-15 players left. From there on, you eliminate 2 at a time, until you get to 4/5 where you start eliminating one. The final two players win. c. Random team of 2 would work where the host assigns numbers to each of the participants, and then uses a random number generator to pick teams of 2 randomly. After the teams are picked, the host randomly picks 2 teams that will play against each other. The team "battles" would be made up of 2 one versus ones, (the teams get to choose what order the players play). If there is a tie, one more match will be played. This would be done until the final team, both players win.

After the 16 preliminary tournaments, the 32 players that have won so far will play in one final tournaments. It will be an elimination tournament, with a twist. It will start with 1 hour of people getting wins, only the top 8 people will move on. After this, 8 rounds will be played, whoever wins during this time moves on (so if you win 8 times, you win there). The people who got a win during that time move on to the next portion. From there on, the player in last is eliminated, that is, until the final 2. The final 2 players will compete in a 1v1, where each map will be played once (17 maps). In other words, it will be a best of 17. lol hope u like the idea xdddddddd

also it's kinda ridiculous that i wrote this all about a block game lol kk bye thx lol bye lol.

Hey wind2earth I am glad you like the idea of the Top 16 Dragon Escape Players of 2017. Also thank you for the great thinking of a excellent idea of a tourney.

Actually the Idea of the voting was connected to a video project I am working on currently. I know I might just left out great players which also did world records in 2017 and put public runner who are doing great in the list which made people think I just put random friends in it. I know strawpoll is not the greatest idea. And I also think that if it would have been "the best DE Player currently" I would have made it like your wrote it there. Supermoar and Flare are good players, but did had there glory time in 2017.

Also I know if you watch the list and see runner like me in the list and some other not that sucessfull worldrecord hunter, you might think that they don't deserve a place in that list. I want to repeat the things I already wrote on the discord: It's not about who got the most wrs in 2017. I could have just counted them and made a list on my own. If you imagine a line graph of players envolving you would probably see everyone getting better from time to time but also good players who just stay on their level. The point is when I think about a list of the best players of 2017, I also see player who envolved from a potato to a ok player in a really short period of time next to player who just played good the whole year and didn't learned any new leaps and strats. I prefer giving that title "one of the best players in 2017" to the newcomer more then giving it to the lazy ass player who probably got worse.

But I agree that everyone needs to have their own opinion about that and if you guys want make a serious tourney about finding out who is really the best. Just do it. But I am fine with my voting results and will keep working on my project.

Thank you for fighting through my text. Sorry for grammar and spelling mistakes I only have a C in English tho.

there has been 24 days in 2018. Some people may have gotten a few, but with the new map it wasnt that difficult. But do you REALLY think that some of these randies deserved a spot over me or super. Dont ya think thunders prime time was 2017 or 2016 like .-. It’s clear that you put your friends over people that deserved it, rookie mistake, back when i did the de timeline fatass lost his shit over it cause i didnt do extensive research on it. make sure you dont make the mistake next time, k3

I feel like 2017 was too much of a dud year for a top runners of the year to be notable. Maybe an "all time" list would be more appropriate.
