leaderboard separation by framerate

No. The gameplay is meaningfully identical across all platforms for smb1 and emulator is completely free so you are simply handicapping yourself by playing on worse platform out of choice, not necessity. Even if you're on a Mac with 60.000 FPS emulators you can use bootcamp to run Windows with nestopia. Why go out of your way to accommodate someone who stubbornly refuses to play on a faster platform?

SM64 is also not an accurate comparison since there are meaningful differences between versions - you have to do delag manips on N64 while you don't have to on emu. SM64 is split also because the original version of the game is slower than rereleases despite being more popular, unlike smb1, so the so-called "purists" who'll only accept the original version are satisfied too

The leaderboards will not be separated just because y'all want to play on slower hardware. There are no differences in how the game is played besides framerate so there is no reason at all to give every console their own separate leaderboard.

There is a filter function if you want to see only the times that were played on a particular platform

i think a division of ntsc and pal is good enough

something that could be a good idea would be to retime future runs on slower platforms to the NTSC framerate of 60.09, altho you could make the argument that it is unfair to those who have already pb'd in these platforms.

no because then youre getting 'free time' and your time is no longer the real time you spent playing the video game plus nobody wants to go back and update every run ever plus its more dumb when it isnt just pattern retiming

@Electricoyt the thing is slower framerate means the game runs slower, aka is probably easier and other things, so is completly unfair if they are retimed to count as 60.09 fps runs you could play at 1 fps and get every trick free, make TAS game and it would count as WR after playing for 5 hours in that run

I don't want to necessarily speak for the moderation team, but Im almost completely certain a leaderboard speration for different consoles will ever happen (besides NTSC and PAL which already happened). If you run on slower hardware, you will get a slower time, that's the final argument. Real-life time is used when retiming these runs.

There's no reason to separate leaderboards by framerate, as it's still the same game. NTSC/PAL is more than just a framerate difference since the actual gameplay is entirely different, which is the reason for its separation. If you really want to you can filter out runs by console, which should be enough.
