I feel like if something like this were to be found useful, we would just make a glitchless category and ban text skips or something lol. For the sake of having the current No OoB route not become arbitrary
I tried it for myself and it just seems to delay getting the key... Not sure if I did this right or if it's just a version difference, since I'm playing on the JAP version. (Sorry about the reso and quality btw, idk what happened with that)
btw, if you just want to see if the glitch can work, save at one of the toads before opening the chest, then you can reset and the chest will be ready to open for you :)
The skip did not work for me. I hit the crib while picking up the key and it didn't skip, but I think this is as close as it will get to doing them at the same time.
Looking through the method you said you took, What i picked up, was that you had to use the GBH to scan something on the same frame you got the key
I also know, that most people tend to use Wiis over GameCubes, for various reasons, so i tested it out on both consoles, to see if it would make a difference.....
As you can see, no luck, both failed, as the GBH locks you out of picking up items, while in it
