ATTN: Moderators - Twin Galaxies Speed Runs
8 years ago
California, USA

Hi everyone. Twin Galaxies has created a speed run section on their scoreboard, but the tracks remain locked until a moderator of the tracks here requests them to be opened. Example: Zelda speed run moderator on here requests the Zelda speed runs to be opened at Twin Galaxies.

So, if you want the tracks opened up, message Twin Galaxies and they'll be unlocked for submissions.

Here is the speed run section at Twin Galaxies. http://www.twingalaxies.com/scores.php?platformid=95

Why do they call categories, tracks?

I've never understood it.

@Klashik

I call them tracks, you can call them categories, or whatever what you want to call them

Wales

Remember when they stole all the speedrun.com rulesets and we shot them down?

Good times.

The proper titling is Speedrun. Not Speed run. Speedrun. Is this website speed_run.com? Are we speed runners? No. We are Speedrunners.

Just for the lols I checked on their categories for mega man x3. They have 97% on there. I can't even....

Still wondering if its okay to just copy stuff with all categories and rules and such. Don't they think that they are gonna get some hate from that?

California, USA

They put the categories up locked until a moderator here requests to unlock them. Sure, they were copy and pasted, but if the moderators of certain categories are ok with it here, then ask Twin Galaxies to unlock it.

Gelderland, Netherlands

Why copy it in the first place? Twin galaxy doesnt really look like a place to track times.

and tbh if they are just doing to so people come to the site its weird. The people will see empty categories and thats it.

France

I wandered 2 seconds on the speedrun part of Twin Galaxies and all I saw was people claiming first places with times that are not even competitive with what you can find on SRCom.

It's all about relevance.

It's that Twin Galaxies has always been separate from you guys here and wants you to submit there. If you guys want certain categories to be opened there, then have a moderator go there and open it. Not everything has to be opened.

Example: Sonic moderator requests to have only the Sonic categories opened at Twin Galaxies, since the moderator is the Sonic moderator

Canada

If you want to stay relevant in the speedrunning community, consider spelling speedrun correctly, that might help.

Why add them upfront and not after the moderator requested it?

Thats the problem im having with the "We should copy this upfront so people can add things here" policy.

Just adding stuff to try to be relevant (im guessing thats what they wanna be) isn't really helpfull with keeping accurate leaderboards.

IMHO twin galaxy should remove all the categories they copied over with speedrun.com rules. I dont think people wanna keep 2 leaderboards separate up to date on 2 different sites where 1 is for speedrunners and 1 for scoreboards.

Also the "Founded by: Speedrun.com" above each ruleset they stole is so cheap and makes it look like that its ok to just copy it. It isnt really speedrun.com, its each gamecommunity that sets the rules (not be confused with the whole speedruncommunity).

lol at the people insulting twin galaxies for spelling speed run "incorrectly". Both speedrun and speed run are grammatically fine. Also "is it speed_run.com?" is easily the dumbest thing ever written on the internet that I've ever seen. Sure, twin galaxies is trying really hard to be relevant and being really bad at it, but these insults really don't help your case when trying to claim superiority.

it's not only that there is no competition it is also that they changed the rules for games like for Echoes and they are total garbage.

England

More than anything I just don't see the point of this?

Like, we already have speedrun.com. It works perfectly well and fine for leaderboards and tracking runs and stuff. A second website that does the same thing with no noticeable improvements and in fact a markedly worse interface is just kind of massively redundant.

i'd sooner move to cyberscore than I would this shit
