Stealing prep equipment from other players

The Cayo Perico Co-op WR has been pushed down to 19 mins by pre-stealing preps with other CEOs, then stealing them off of them.

Should this be allowed, if yes, could this be used for solo if we don't invite "helpers" into main heist?

Well... no. That would just make it co-op again.

I personally don't even like that you can just keep delivering stolen equipment, removes the possibility of pretty much any speed strategies from any of the setups where you can just skip them.

I totally agree with iguana. Seems to me like it is breaking the spirit of the heist speed run by just having your team members do different prep work missions at the same time, rather than all together.

you still need to do those preps + speed strategies are even more needed as 4 of 6 preps are done solo.

I also agree with iguana, everyone doing their own thing just removes a huge part of the heist, and doing multiple missions at once just feels wrong as well.

Generally in the rest of the categories, ALL players are part of each setup/mission/prep in other SH Flase runs, I don't see why it shouldn't be the case here. IMHO

By the philosophy of splitting tasks like that, the Act I, II and III 4p runs, to name something, could be 'split' into 2 players doing X setups and the other 2 players doing Y setups. Cutting down on time dramatically.

Heck, what about all casino missions, should a 4p run.. with 2 players doing half the mission and the rest the other half.. be valid?

Not sure how else to put it.

It's just like multi host on apartment heists, I don't see a reason why it souldn't be allowed.

multihost is a bit different imo since just skipping cutscenes but everyone still does same setups, this feels more like skipping gameplay

Responding to iguana, would stealing from randoms count as solo then? And how would that be checked?

Estonia

No, imo there's no difference if it's a friend or a random. There's no real way to check this, for solo you should do all the missions in a way other players can't affect your run, pretty much as if you were in an empty lobby (which you probably should be if you're doing solo runs).

@Myst

I meant more about the general idea. More than one host, but only one finale.

It is true, we are skipping gameplay to a degree, but the preps still need to be done, and at the end someone has done it. We do one heist, from begining to an end. Other heists have some soloable parts too (or duoable/trioable), while others do almost nothing. Difference is we didn't press enter few times on the heist board, and we didn't load to the same setup, while sitting and doing nothing.

I don't know anymore if it should or shouldn't be allowed. It's not pretty, but it is faster.

IMHO if everyone just does his own thing and just join & do the finale together it's hardly co-op anymore, up until this point all players had to be part of the same setup/mission/prep, faster is always nice but i feel like this breaks the spirit of co-op speedrunning, this also makes doomsday & casino runs obsolete. Just my opinion about allowing stealing prep equipment from other players in generally.

The time gain from using this strat is huge especially with 4 players and its just a game mechanic that can be abused to get the fastest time. I agree it kinda feels a bit cheap so I would suggest having a coop category for prep stealing and no prep stealing and I would love to see insanely fast runs of each kind with people working together.

Also buying preps in doomsday heists ain't pretty and feels cheap but its faster :/

So if I understand this correctly, Assuming everyone needs to be in the finale of any heist speedrun, currently this is allowed -> cayo perico where everyone does their own preps and the main host 'steals'

will any of these 4 be allowed?

  1. casino where everyone does their own preps, main host steals, and everyone does the finale together
  • if applying the same rules as cayo i dont see why this would be a problem
  1. doomsday where people do setups simultaneously (e.g. act 2 run where player 1 and 2 do avenger and ulp, player 3 and 4 do hard drives and recon, and everyone does the finale)
  • similar logic to cayo perico and casino, all the preps end up being done, just that everyone is not in every setup/prep
  1. doomsday where people split to do different setups, just not simultaneously (e.g. player 1 and 2 do the 1st setup, as soon as they finish player 3 and 4 start the next, skipping any loading/lobby time)
  2. casino and cayo perico where everyone does their own preps but main host doesnt steal
  • if having all preps done is important, why deliver it to the main host?

if we try to keep the spirit of a 'coop speedrun', 2-4 shouldnt be allowed imo, idk about prep steal if having the same rules for all heists is important, i think allowing prep steal & not allowing 2-4 is not consistent because "prep steal is ok because its 1 heist" doesnt really make sense considering multihost is allowed

i think requiring all members of a run be in every prep/setup/finale is reasonable and consistent although it would be fun to see 98 people get together to do an all heist run in 10mins lol
