First I need to say that doom speedrunning community is one of oldest in existence and amount of runs done on IWADs (ones that you can find here) is bigger than couple of thousands in different categories, including ILs, TASes, episode runs etc. Ofcource it is impossible to port all that into sr.com without turning it into complete mess. So why creating doom series on sr.com? It is very simple - to provide RTA competetion for most known doom games and to show what game is capable of. Normally doom is about demos, that's how it was/is/will be , but that doesn't mean that those who just want to run game semi-casually (or not entirely seriously) have no chances of appearing on any sorts of leaderboards. That's why we created series page.

!!!!!!!!! Where to find all those thousands of demos? There is one big archive right here - doomedsda.us - it is being updated every monday. Please note, that DSDA is an archive and not leaderboards, so it has all times for every map, which were ever made and sent there. Also I'd recommend joining doomworld.com forums, for all recent activity inside community. There is also a discord where some people are discussing mapping, runs and stuff - https://discord.gg/zNxGGKQ !!!!!!!!!!

This thread is created for main discussions and questions that you have. Feel free to ask anything here.

Looks like this particular forum doesn't see a lot of activity, but I'll ask anyhow. I've recently settled on PRBoom+ as my port of choice (since GZDoom corrects certain glitches that are used in speedrunning). Since there is a lot of customization, it makes me wonder what is considered a legitimate run. For example, I am not fond of characters being infinitely tall. I see it as a flaw in the limitation of the technology when the game was first brought about. I'm more fond of being able to jump over enemies if I'm on a ledge 20 feet above them. Is this considered unacceptable for a run? Is it not pure enough to count on a leaderboard? I mean, I'm not nearly good enough to get on one yet anyhow, but it's good to know how I should be practicing. :)

Is there a franchise run. All doom o.g. back to back.

When I was a noob, I ran the game with Chocolate Doom. Also, if a beginner, start listening to pro runners > #Doom on SpeedRunsLive IRC. PRBoom+ helped me record my speedruns and still get a degree of accuracy that I needed. http://customwritingcompany.com/ write a custom review on a speedrun
