Game request rejected for being "overly generic".

The rejected message told me that my game request of aTilt 3D Labyrinth was overly generic, which I wasn't really expecting. I thought it's cool because it has IGT (which is handy) and is obscure, though I guess I could understand it being generic if it is a common game type. Maybe I just haven't come across similar game types before.

While I'm not a mod or anything myself, when I watched pieces of your runs that I found on YouTube and yeah I can understand that the mods would reject the game for being overly generic. I had a super similar game with an IGT but at the same time it was a completely different game than what you played. I forgot what the game was called, it was pre-installed on the phone I got it with (HTC One if anyone cares). Only difference was the textures and, well, different levels. Oh and if there's a tight space between two black holes you could go between them, which you didn't attempt to go for in your run when sometimes -- if possible -- it could have been useful.

Nothing else to add I guess lol. Just wanted to throw my two cents.

Content mods are doing what they are suppose to be doing which is quality control on submissions and games, not every game will get a board nor would deserve a board in most cases because. If they allowed every game submission that met the minimum requirements then we would have even more dead boards and games that are not really doing much or anything at all past that point as well as taking up space on the site which keep in mind is maintained by PAC and the Mods on their own time.

Now that being said in the future if there is maybe more interest and people that have gotten together for said game and at that point their is things going on for it outside SRDC then maybe you could resubmit it, keep in mind when making submissions many of the games that they look at they know nothing about so if there is not enough information provided or shown about the submission that would seem like there is potential for a board then they would most likely add it provided its not another generic style game that have been lately Visual Novels(Which to myself are not even games), Mobile Game(Which are just ludicrously over done and mind-numbing), Flash Game(Too many generic fan made games these days.) just to name a few kinds of games that will be under more scrutiny then normal.

Hopefully this is understandable.

Yeah, yeah, it is. I can understand that. There's mind-numbing games with any hardware, but mobile is probably easier to make for since the Playstore allows just about anything haha.

For the most part, it was rather generic. It was a tilt/ball maze type game, of which there appear to be hundreds of on the Google Play Store alone. Regarding the particular one submitted, some additional small red flags for me were:

  1. Outside of the Amazon Store, could not reliably find this game. The Google Play Store will return tons of searches back here even searching for the direct title of the game, as seen here: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=aTilt%203D%20Labyrinth&hl=en_GB , just incase you are unsure of just how common this type of game is.

  2. The developer's site itself appears to not even have updated/working redirects to the game: http://www.fridgecatsw.com/ This could be on my end, potentially, but both the links for the Google Play Store and the Amazon Storefront from their official site either appear incorrect or broken. Not really a good sign. If they're not even maintaining their own site in terms of pointing people to this game, it potentially becomes an issue of how could users even find this game? We don't really want 100s of Tilt/Ball Maze games on the site, especially when the majority of them play identically and are usually only texture/graphics swaps. Especially not one that doesn't even appear to be being handled well enough on the game's actual site.

Generic doesn't seem to be the word you really want here.

The problem isn't that it's generic, it's that it's unimportant. It's a shovelware release by a minor developer. The game has no following and is going to disappear entirely in 6 months. It's so unimportant that the developer's own website has broken links to the game.

Right. I don't understand why it was removed from the playstore, but it's happened before. It's not a big deal tbh.
