Hey guys,

As the title says i'm looking to run an RPG as they are probably my favourite genre to play but i'm not sure on many if i'm honest. If possible i'd prefer a run to be no longer than 4-5 hours although not fully against it as well as not too many glitches if possible.

Not sure if i'm being slightly picky there, sorry if I am lol but I hope to hear some suggestions.

What platforms do you have available to you? For RPG's, NieR Automata comes to mind for me, the A ending category is fairly short, even glitchless it's less than two hours. That game's available on PC, PS4 and I believe recently released for Xbox One as well.

The entire Kimgdom Hearts series is available for PS4 in 2 collections and most categories are only a few hours, with some even as low as 50 minutes.

Pretty much any SNES RPG will be 4-5 hours or less as well, so that’s a whole lotta games to pick from.

There are so many rpgs. Based on the games you have run you seem to like more the action rpg style. How about The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, or one of my favorites, Ys: Oath of Felghana? Ninja Gaiden Black is incredible too, was watching a couple speedruns from that recently.

Lords of the Fallen is perhaps shorter than you were looking for but really fun, and probably available on PS4 for ne much.

The Final Fantasies before 7 should be not that very long.

Hi everyone. I'm very sorry if this is classed under necroing a thread and also very sorry with my absence (I've had a LOT going on) but I just wanted to thank you all for your suggestions and let you know i'm still alive.

PS4 would be my primary platform as I own one of those and stream from it too. I can also get access to a Snes mini classic (I am not too sure how runs are handled with that or if it would be better to just buy a normal Snes).

I have considered an old RPG but with ease of access I have considered doing FF7, FF9, Tales of Berseria(/Vesperia when that's out), Kingdom Hearts or Ys VIII as I do have easy access to those on my PS4.

Once again though thank you all for your suggestions and I feel really bad it's taken me this long to get back to you.

If you're gonna do SNES runs, try and get an og snes if possible, it's more accurate.

Okay, I can casually just browse around for an original one then and hope it's not too expensive.

Hey man I know you want to speed an RPG but don't, do runs of Sonic instead, thanks.

As an Administrator of the Sonic Speedrunning Discord, I frown upon the above message and urge you to run whatever you feel like running.

As someone completely unassociated with Sonic in general, I also frown upon the message and urge you to run whatever you feel like running

If you're looking for a more modern RPG, have you considered NieR: Automata?

Final Fantasy XV is fairly short about 4-5 hours if you are really good at the game and it is for PC, Xbox One and PS4 family of consoles.

Try dabbling in categories that can be shortened if you like, including not necessarily completing the game. An example of this, while not being a RPG in itself, is getting to the Ghost Ship in LOZ: Phantom Hourglass, which I believe takes less than half the length of the whole game itself while being a milestone in its own right. Speaking of Sonic, I may or may not have asked in the Sonic Speedrunning Discord about the prospect of running Chao events in the Adventure games? @Drakodan
