possible new category: law%

just beat the game without breaking the law. It might sound like a simple idea but it's gonna end up being really complicated. any enemy you need to kill has to attack you first so it can be self-defense. you need to obey traffic laws in metro kingdom. things like that.

  1. Make the ruleset unambiguous and clarify all details.
  2. Run the category.
  3. Suggest the category through a form that should be linked in a pinned thread. This here is not the place for category suggestions. Good luck.

I mean, laws will all depend of the country or state you live it, among a lot of other things But i would bet that murdering can be considered to be against the law in general terms So that makes the category kind of imposible :) You could easily discuss about that point of self defense you are trying to make and is hard to remove the ilegality of that And there are 100% a lot of other laws you can play around to find Mario guilty in this game (also by the nature of this game obeying the traffic laws is so arbitrary lol)

mario about to commit private propety invasion 87 times in order to save da princess

I’ve been thinking about this and, I think I’ve figured out Bowser’s (although I can’t figure out Moon):

As it is done in Min. Captures, you are actually able to jump up the part where you are supposed to use the Pokio without actually capturing the Pokio. About the wire captures, you can either CRC or do nut jump (also used in minimum captures).

The Mech: You can use a very precise strat to get onto the mech without the Pokio, and I guess technically killing the Broodals would be self defense (since Mario is killing them to be in his way to save Peach, who I have a feeling is techinally Mario’s wife, since Rosalina’s parents are canonically Mario and Peach)

Then, using this previous logic of Mario being Peach’s husband, I guess that would explain Moon as well. If there is anything I missed/got wrong, please tell me. I would love the feedback

oh it is a fir video? lmao i knew i saw it somewhere before i think it has happened various times that new accounts pops up purposing as their own original ideas speedrun challenges that some well-known youtuber has recently uploaded a video about, without mentioning it or everything (but sometimes like the same one day the video is uploaded, probably not a coincidence)

Probably a coincidence. It seems like nobody has heard of Fir doing this until now, either that or the video is new, but either way this is still a p cool speedrun idea tbh

  1. KilleDragon, I think there is a way to define “illegal” in mario odyssey. Murder, damage of property, but maybe there is an exception for boss fights.
  2. What is with everyone and %? No teleports%, wetnut%, why not warpless or grab a nut?
  3. I do like this category, and also why isn’t all boss rematches on the list?

@DMBOS_27YT Murder is technically legal with the Broodals since Bowser basically hired them to stop Mario from saving Peach (who is technically Mario’s wife since they have Rosalina as their daughter)

But here’s where things get complicated: Cap Kingdom: The wire capture at the end of the kingdom Cascade: use some precise tricks to get to the bones (to not destroy anything natural). Then CRC to get the painting warp moon Then kill Mrs. Broodal (legal since Mario is saving Peach) After that, get either the subarea moon or the moon near the subarea (since both only appear after you fight Mrs. Broodal) Here’s where we’ll have to break one law: Stealing the Odyssey, since there’s no way to actually get it legally. Sand: the route is going to be extremely different, since we are not able to break any laws. You could get coins from the subarea in Cascade to buy a shop moon. (legally, 1/16) You then get the casino moon (since gambling isn’t illegal, technically, but however, even though it varies from state to state on which age you can start gambling (I think), but I don’t think it matters. 2/16) Then go to the ground pound subarea to legally get a moon. (3/16) Clip into the pyramid (since technically disobeying the laws of physics isn’t illegal) and do the pyramid as normal without breaking/killing anything, and then defeat Harriet (6/16). Before this, you can get the Jaxi moon (7/16) and the moon on top of the pyramid (8/16) legally. Sand (Night): This is where things get difficult. Go defeat Knucklotec (11/16) Sand (Day 2): you can get another 3 moons legally (14/16) but this is honestly where I am stuck. If anybody would be willing to help, I would appreciate it.

Edit: total of 2 laws broken when leaving sand, also you can just get the tree moons to get 16/16 moons
