Any interest in more categories?

Seeing as Re-Volt is one of my childhood loves and being interested in running it now, I wonder why there's only the All cups category. Wouldn't 100% (All Cups, all cars, stunt arena, all mirror/reverse unlock) not be interesting aswell? I mean the stunt arena is quite annoying and could be pretty RNG dependant, but so are the normal races (NPC items, lines etc.).

Also what about individual level leaderboards?

Portugal

I'd like to run this game as well, but it's a struggle to make it work properly on windows 8, like it's always crashing.

I agree with both suggestions.

Try running it via Wolf Launcher. I'll send you a link to the program, works like a charm for me on Win10. Even though the camera and the victory screen (where the cars are bouncing) are a bit buggy. But it's nothing that impacts the gameplay itself.

Edit: Nevermind, seems as messages aren't a thing here. Google "WolfR4 Revolt" and it should be the first hit on Google.

Ok thanks Delecto. I'll check upon that later when i get some free time ;)

Ecuador

Yesss more more re-volt!!

-100% -stunt arena -individual races

Limburg, Netherlands

I did some 100% runs some time ago. Where I used completing the progress table as 100%. For this run I set the number of laps to 1, to shorten the races to be won.

Also I like the ideas for stunt arena and individual levels as categories, I think the more the better!

Limburg, Netherlands

I've added the 100% and stunt arena to the categories. For the individual levels, should we do a 3 lap race with 8 competitors or would people rather have time trial times so there is no RNG

Saarland, Germany

Lovely. Now it's time to get the best route down. Also I'd say we could leave indiv levels out because there should be time trial leaderboards out there somewhere.

Saarland, Germany

@Ewil That's exactly what I was talking about. Sadly I can't see the records (probably because I don't have an account there) but I think the existence of those leaderboards would make IT ladders on here redundant.

Czech Republic

You don't need an account to view the records.

Best laps - Results by track, then click on the screenshot to see the best laps.

Sadly they only list 3-4 laps race times, not best laps, which is what I meant. Most racing games have some sort of "hot lap" leaderboard.

Ah okay I see. If they aren't listing FLaps (Fastest Laps) we could introduce Flap leaderboards. When we're already adding FLaps we might as well think about which format we should go about with races. In my opinion the best standard to measure race records is either 3 laps or 5 laps.

Czech Republic

Lowest number of laps should be used, imho, so 3. That is also what most players on that site use, so we should stick with that. Also, someone could maybe send them an echo about speedrun.com to possibly create more competition ;)

Hungary

Did this idea die? Because i would still be intrested in this if it would be added.

I don't think the idea itself died. It's just that this game isn't being ran by a huge community which results in there being less stuff implemented.

Limburg, Netherlands

As Delecto said, the idea didn't die. If there is interest in running these categories, even if it would mean a category side to side with www.revoltrace.net . I would gladly introduce the flyinglap and 3-lap race category to Speedrun.com

Rhône-Alpes, France

Hey guys +1 I rediscover this childhood treasure and so started to try run it ! Cee ya soon on (bottom) scoreboard, at first allcups! ehehe ! Hf

Individual tracks would be cool

Utrecht, Netherlands

I disagree. It would take a while for mods to add all relevant runs from RVR, and if that wouldn't be done, there would be very little competition, as I'm sure most people wouldn't bother submitting their times here. That's as far as races are concerned. Time trials are recently managed here: http://forum.re-volt.io/viewforum.php?f=22 These include the times from prior websites as well.
