Recording From Killstagram?

As would be expected with a built-in service, a lot of people are using Killstagram. It doesn't show the time at the end of its videos, but if recorded, it would not be hard to find exactly how long the runs are. Should we allow recorded Killstagram runs for ILs?

don't those run at a different speed than the actual game? also it's useless for real time runs for obvious reasons

France

Killstagram replays run at full speed. So it basically shows IGT instead of RTA.

Artice - I don't actually know. We'd need to do some investigating, I guess.

Gyoo - Yes, of course, however, the "Speedrun" category uses IGT, and that IGT is the exact same in game as on the Killstagram site. That's why I'm bringing this into consideration.

I guess if it's accurate then I see no reason not do allow it

France

It's not. There's always an extra sequence at the end, where you see your character throw the weapon. This action happens during the "SUPERHOT" cutscene at the end of a level. Unless you edit the footage before sending it to Killstagram obviously.

Example of an uncut Killstagram replay : https://gfycat.com/NextPeriodicEmperorpenguin There's like 1-2 extra seconds after the last kill, this shouldn't count.

Good point. Although, is the time on the Killstagram page including that? The idea is that we have a time, and video proof of that time. If the time is accurate, but the video is slightly longer, do we count it as valid? These questions are half-rhetorical, but regardless, IF the time is accurate I see no reason to let a run go to waste because someone wasn't recording the game themselves when they got it (as long as they use Killstagram, of course).

Edit: I agree with you, though, that if it is inaccurate, we do need to stop it from being accepted. Also, user Kirito has been submitting Katana runs for every single level recorded from Killstagram as far as I can tell, and those have been accepted so far because the final time appears to be what the game would say, not including the throwing time.

France

Killstagram does provide times for both RTA and IGT. That's probably fair. My final word is that, if you ever want to use this as a viable source (which seems to be, after all), better wait for Killstagram to be entirely useable. So far, I experienced that you can upload your replays, but it looks impossible to find them on the website because so many features aren't available yet.

Got it. I'll stop accepting Killstagram submissions for the time being, until they touch it up some more.

United States

Sorry for submitting Killstagrams! I will make sure to use youtube.

I understand that it's a bad reference, the RTA and IGT seem to be wrong for full uploads to Killstagram, the actual times shown at the end of runs are slightly different.

It's too bad that Killstagram isn't 100% accurate, would have been a huge time saver for uploading videos.

Yep, these are the reasons we're stopping it. But it's all good, your submissions are safe =)

Hopefully they'll fix the platform soon.

The other thing is we don't know how long Killstagram stuff will remain for. Logic would say forever, but we don't know that.

Good point. There is a way to find the MP4 files of Killstagram uploads; I linked it in another thread.
