So I did a full run of SOMA earlier today. I started the timer when I pressed "New Game" + "Yes" when it asked me if I wanted to overwrite my save. I stopped the timer when reaching Catherine Chun (within the Ark after the credits).
This is because these are the parts where you gain control and lose control of the game.

Did anyone else have a different idea of when to start and stop the timer?

Does anyone have a timer with a load remover for this game? I noticed when submitting the run that "Time Without Loads" was an option.
I'm sure I'll have more questions to come as I continue to help improve the run. Good to see so many people already interested in this. ^_^

Yes - I don't think we have to include the initial cutscene. We should start timer as soon as we gain actual control of Simon i.e. once we get out of bed to grab the tracer fluid.

No this just came out. Maybe someone will look into it. But considering how HPL and the game handle loading I'm expecting there to be some problems with that. Guess we'll find out.

The game autosaves after the phone call ends, could this be a potential starting point?
My last run I started the timer upon waking up to grab the tracer fluid. And I stopped the timer upon reaching Catherine in the Ark. So the opening cinematic and closing cinematic were NOT included in the final time.
