Thoughts on Categories and Rules

I noticed we didn't have any established as of yet, so why not open a forum post about it.

Current categories that make sense to me are:

  • Level 12 (CopyPaste%)
  • Level 18 (not 20 as I had before :p) (FreePlay%)

For rules:

  • Clean installs only, altering the game files is banned.
  • Timing is done using real time (game time is not accurate enough).
  • Timing starts when you press New Game and the loading completes (accounts for difference in computers).
  • Timing ends when the Level Complete appears for your desired category.
  • All runs require the full version of the game. (no shapez.io website runs ?)
  • All runs require video proof (I think this is the case already)
  • Version should be included as a field in the submission (not a rule, just a suggestion) (verification through Settings if scrolled to bottom)

Thoughts? Additions?

For completion of the category, for example level 12, are you beating the 11th level and arriving at 12 or beating level 12 and arriving at 13?

The naming is based on completion, so to finish CopyPaste%, you have to complete Level 12 and unlock blueprints. Same goes for Freeplay% and Level 20.

Why do people suggest level 20 as Freeplay%? Technically, freeplay starts at level 19 and is unlocked by beating level 18, so that's why Any% is level 18 beat and not level 20 started/beat.

I think it's because reaching level 20 requires beating a freeplay level, as opposed to reaching level 19.

Whoops. My bad. Must have misread it when I was typing it in. Not sure why I put Level 20... It should say Level 18 for Freeplay%. Tbf, I have only gotten there twice and did so before I started looking into speedrunning :p
