creeper blowing up diamond is the same as mining it in the Mine Diamond category?

Hey I just stumbled upon the mine diamond category and saw how he got it super fast. Turns out a creeper exploded the diamond, and he didn't actually mine it. It seems like it doesn't cross any rules since the record is still there, but I really don't consider a creeper blowing up a diamond the same as you actually mining it with a pickaxe... Maybe think about adding a rule which says that you have to mine it with a pickaxe?

In real life, you mine with explosions, so using a creeper would be fair in my opinion

Yeah I am aware, but it has always been the tradition that when you mine something, whether it'd be stone, or ores, you need a pickaxe to do that, hence the name "minecraft".

When I think about mining diamonds, or mining something else, I think about doing it with a pickaxe, not with a with a creeper. The intention of the creeper isn't to mine but to blow the player up, in contrast to going through the mining animation by holding your left click button. It just seems silly to me that you can justify it as mining, since it seems like the mining category was made for players who wanted to compete through more realistic ways than through villages.

It doesn't feel legitimate if you can just jump into a cave and let a creeper blow up - that wouldn't be the process that you'd take if you wanted to mine diamond in the singleplayer game. Getting a diamond from a creeper feels more like obtaining a diamond by different means than mining, and therefore I think it doesn't qualify for being in this section. I'm aware that you mine with explosives in real life, but I think it should be justified by the intended game mechanics and not by whether it's a thing in real life. (and still, in real life we use explosives similar to TNT in minecraft, we don't blow up animals ... ;P)

Don't forget this is a speedrun category. I think at first, people tried to mine a diamond as a challenge, and some people found that actually mining it with a pickaxe would make it slow, and mining it with a creeper would make it faster, skipping the boring crafting iron pickaxe and stuff, that's all. In a way, it's a trade between time and RNG, time saving wins. If you search for a possible logic behind the true use of a creeper, try to figure out why we first punch wood with a single hand, and why there are lava lakes aha

Anyway, I see your point, that it's not that """right""", but you just have to agree that in speedrunning, you gotta go fast

true I see why people use creepers as it is a way to skip other things, which I suppose is what you do when you want to go fast. I just wanted to raise the question, I can understand why it is being used.

With glitches mining diamond with iron pickaxe may be faster though

I see what you mean and I kinda agree but I think "Mine diamond" just means "Obtain diamond without generated structures" here.
