Tips to see if a glitch is useful or not

Hi,

So there is this glitch in MySims DS and @MelonSlice and I are testing it. It's a glitch you can get out of bounce and walking in the void.

For now, we can't find anything how this glitch could help us in the run. Save+quit, opening menu etc. So do you guys have any tips to find out if a glitch is useless or useful?

I know every glitch is different, but tips to properly test a glitch? What do you do when you find a glitch and you are testing it over and over again?

the game might be heavily based off the game logic and triggers, skipping a part of either of these two will softlock your run, till the moment you go back and activate them. if you can't find a reliable way to use glitch, well, the glitch is useless then.

If you can find a way to see where the triggers are in the game then use the oob to try hit one of them out of sequence. It probably depends on the engine if this is possible or not.

Creativity is one of our greatest tools. Try to look at glitches as possible features of the game, just like everything else. Mix and match with parts of the run that seem kind of slow and you might accidentally stumble on something. Consider the glitch like any other aspect of the game, and if there's no way to make the current fastest route faster, see if there's a way that this glitch can make an otherwise slower route faster.

In Harvest Moon 64, we recently discovered some glitches that don't really help the known fastest route. However, someone recently tried applying it to an otherwise slower route, and the result beat the WR by ten minutes. So although the glitch appeared useless, it was useful in a way that wasn't readily obvious.
