Retiming a Speedrun
United States

I see some speedruns have a different submitted time than what the video shows, but this is obviously because they were hand timing it and they went back through and timed it again.

I was simply wondering what the most accurate way to retime a recorded run would be.

United States

Frame stepping and watching the timer is usually the best method. If there's no timer, check the frame count and divide that by the framerate.

England

Of course, this is not an issue in games that have an accurate ingame timer.

England

local recording and YUA.exe

England

Download the VOD and use Avidemux or VirtualDub to get an exact framecount, it'll tell you the exact length of the vod to the frame.

Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Exact same framecount then the slower computers had slowmotion-advantage ..

  • But actually a huge problem here is no Comparibilitiy at all- The one with faster PC always runs quicker from A to B in a given time.(At least for what I was taking a look on, already lost motivation when I heard in Fallout Vid that looking into heaven would speed you up - new graphic card may do the job too..:P ) Rather moneyrunning than speedrunning as far as I can see yet.

About timing - wouldnt worry too much about +-1 sec ^

Another way would be going into a editing software like Final Cut Pro and making a note of the time when the run starts, since you can frame advance, and then do the same at the end. That's the way you do it if you wanna go completely out of the way
