Add-Ons Updated

As some are already aware, several add-ons were recently updated to remove expliots. This includes Blackhill Mansion, Bovine Barnyard, Subsea, and Shiny Suburbs, which are all included in the leaderboards.

This of course means that the current runs for those courses are technically invalid. What I suggest we can do is create a separate category for the older versions of the tracks (which are still available on the add-ons website) if it's possible. We could also just delete the times, but this would not be ideal (and if we do delete them they should be preserved somehow). And keep in mind that this affects not just 1.0, but 0.9.3 as well.

What are people's thoughts on this (especially super-mods since they have the power to change the categories)?

Thanks! :)

Personally, I am not in favor to keep addons times... We thought that they would not be updated that often, but looks like people are actually still working on them after all... Updates can appear any time and it was what I feared in another post. My suggestion would be that someone keeps track of them "unofficially" outside of Speedrun.com

Now, I see a new Sub-Games item in the menu, maybe someone could make a reference Stk Mod with all addons with releases and directly downloadable assets and we could have a sub-game with its own categories and all addons (also addons karts)! Of course there should not be new versions often. Otherwise in the main game, again I prefer not to deal with addons.

Btw what can Super Mods do that we cannot? I thought that they were just able to manage moderators, we can edit anything in Edit Game, can't we?...

I don't think they are likely to change again. I was the one who updated them, and it was just to add checklines or working offroad to make the tracks unexploitable (which would be important for ranked races). In general I would agree to keep add-ons outside of speedrun.com or at least in the "sub-games" area (I might make a playlist for add-on records), but the only add-ons that are included are the ones that are on a previous version of STK anyway, so removing them would remove regular ILs from older versions. I suppose what we could do is remove the runs from the newer versions. I'll look into the sub-games thing and see if it makes sense to put add-on ILs there.

And I think I was wrong about the super mod thing. I was looking for a way to edit the level in the wrong place. ;)

Yeah of course we need to keep the tracks anyway if they are Official in at least one version, I was just thinking about removing times for cases where they are only Addons. Though there will be empty cells in the tables and I don't see how we could make them unclickeable and prevent people from submitting things there...

In "Add sub-game", there is the "Modification" option that corresponds to what we could do

I think the way to go with the add-ons would be to have a sub-game called "SuperTuxKart Add-Ons," let me know if you think that's a good idea. And we could definitely add other mods as well. :)

Well we don't have to find a more flashy name, that will certainly do it Lol And yeah we could have very cool Mods, and have unlimited options. Or we could also have only one huge Mod combining many interesting stuff too :D ! I just don't want that this site becomes a complete mess with 500 Mods and categories that nobody is running Lol

I added a subgame for SuperTuxKart Add-Ons. I made everyone a super mod (except Theodore, it seems you need to enable e-mail authentication to be mod but I'll be happy to add you of course if you choose to enable it) because I expect it to be a lot more casual. I'm also ok with self-verifying runs but if anyone objects let me know.

I included every non-broken add-on that is either featured or in ranked races, although I suppose if you wanted to run a different track we could add it.

Oh you directly added the category without having a Modded Stk... Well that will do it as well I guess, but it would still be better to have an actual Mod with "fixed" addons. If you want I can do the Lawmaking (rules) part Lol Selfverification is not new, I would just require verification by someone else for "big" runs.

Btw I am not seeing any changes regarding Moderators. Speaking of this maybe some cleanup is needed, many people don't seem to be around anymore here so it does not really make sense to have these people as Moderators...

Yes I agree an actual modded version would be neat. After it is made I can adjust the sub-game accordingly. Maybe in the forum for the sub-game we can discuss the details of the modified game.

And you brought up a good point about moderators. Perhaps we should start a thread?

(And also just to avoid any possible confusion, when I said I made everyone super mods, I was talking about in the sub-game lol)

I have enabled e-mail authentication.

Andet's times for Paradise Peaks and Tux Tollway should be 2:10.692 and 2:17.486.

Thanks, I guess if I'm going to self-verify my runs I should be more careful lol

I agree with @Fouks ; I prefer not having to deal with addons in the main game, and the subgames for the addons track is a nice trick.

It doesn't solve the issue of different addons version. Some of the old addons version used in submitted runs are unavailable now, so a "community modded version with addons" could be interesting.

The IL system of SRC doesn't fit well our use case : we have a set of levels for each version, and each main release have some tracks added/removed while others stay, so we get tracks that are "official" for one version and "addon" (or don't exist) for another.

We'd need to make some request to SRC to improve this.

@Andet don't self-verify even when it looks alright, you'll get dumb mistakes slipping through... I'm personally against self-verification even though I trust others here to be honest, mistakes happen.

Haven't seen you in a while. :)

Are you sure some of the add-on versions we used aren't available? Can't you download the different revisions? Ravenbridge Mansion might be the exception, though.

They aren't available on the addons site and through the in-game addons downloader, which is the main issue for new players.

You and me still have copies of the track versions used so we could upload them for use by other players, but this is clumsy.

The add-ons site has the revisions history though, right? For example, for Bovine Barnyard you can select "Download Revision 2" for the one that we originally used?
