Glitchless Category

Others DMC games have Glitchless categories, so it would be fair for DMC 5 having a full game run without skips and glitches

I agree. Should have glitchless from the beggining

i'll use whatever sanity i have left to not start a shitshow.

no.

I agree. I wanted a category that I could do just with my skills, without having to learn glitches, just skips that have no programming flaws.

there's only one oob during an HOUR AND A HALF long-run, that saves astonishing TWO MINUTES. damn, probably changes the entire run strat, makes the game look like 4D-indie trash, and absolutely requires over 100500 frameperfect inputs on a specific controller on a specific console of a specific version of the game that was released in a specific region of the planet Earth and if you don't have my version of the game then you don't have a right to touch the game, because you won't have any chances of beating a clearly unoptimized world record that you want to snatch by making 0 effort at actually learning the game.

There are more skips with glitches, not only one oob

excuse me, define your meaning of glitch, as

hows jumping over a fight in m2 is a glitch? hows using V's teleport to skip a fight in m9 is a glitch? hows using cane to preserve inertia from Shadow's launch in m9 is a glitch? hows despawning a fight by stepping inside of a purple orb trigger in m10 is a glitch? hows utilizing 4 jumps in m12 is a glitch?

unless we count console exclusive glitches that aren't well explored yet (as they require 1.00 phys. version or smth), hows these things above would change the run, except the fact that you'll have to spend 20 seconds doing the exact same patterns you've done before?

Excuse me, what the hell?! A specific console of a specific version of the game that was released in a specific region of the planet Earth? Glitchless is a must-have category for any run of any game and not specifically for a console, an exclusive version… it's for any dmc 5 version.

Only one dmc game has a glitchless category, which is the reboot. So let me break this down.

Currently here are the known skips in dmc5 (unless you're playing on console):

-m2 pit skip -m3 university skip -m4 bat fight skip -m8 pit skips -m9 tree skip -m9 coffin skip -m10 long hall skip -m11 skip (NG+ only, and has never been used in a run) -m12 gargoyle skip -m18 shadow fight skip (not useful)

Now here are the skips that are not developer intended (part of the level path) and useful.

M3, M4, M9, M10

Here's the amount that you could theoretically count as a glitch:

M3

M4, M9, and M10 are mostly exploits based on the way the game is structured. M9 has no invisible wall in the doorway, this is why it works there but not M4. M4's bat fight skip is based on how the cutscene trigger is mapped, so you're not glitching anything, just activating a cutscene, and this skip only saves like 7-10 seconds max. M10 you can even encounter in a casual playthrough because it is an exploit of how encounter priority is structured.

Even with all this, these skips do not fundamentally change the run. They just make it shorter. In order to justify a glitchless category for this game, it would need to fundamentally change how the route works (see: DmC reboot, which is perfectly understandable that they made that category). As it stands, even if you didn't do any skips, developer intended or not, your route would not be different, it'd just be longer. I was running this game without skips when it first came out and nothing was different.

I recommend learning the full game run before making statements that suggest it is necessary to have glitchless or that the current routes do not require skill. If you want to run without these techniques, be our guest. But there's really no reason beyond arbitration to have a glitchless category.

and this is the problem with glitchless, we don't talk about what actually makes something a glitch and trail off into talk about "developer intended" and "skill". I 100% agree with Cosmic, the glitches make such a minor change in the run it's not worth a glitchless category. The reason DmC reboot has glitchless is because it has a repeatable glitch across every single level that completely changes how that game is played. Nier Automata had a glitchless category however that's because probably around 30% of that run is spent OOB and more importantly, the entirety of combat revolves around a damage glitch

Outside of console there are no repeatable glitches, in my opinion there is only one glitch in the entire game outside of console, so you're basically asking us to remove M3 skip from a category that outside of that would have absolutely no changes. Console does have repeatable clip out with dante however it can only be used in specific places and the time saves we're seeing aren't very large, it's not as if every dante mission is being skipped in it's entirety with it.

Also there's nothing stopping you from just running glitchless and submitting to the main board, if you feel that strongly about it, but as it stands I see no reason to add a new category that no-one would run, would not be a fundamental change to how the game is played, would not require re-routes, different buys, different load outs etc.
