Yeah I know. But this shit has to be solved before we accept submissions. And I refuse to reject runs because people didnt install a 3rd party program to run the game.
If I wanted to play at 60 fps I would have bought this for console. I am all for locking it at 120 FPS.
I honestly cannot see why people are complaining about having a fair board.
The proposed solution is to have one category that is free for all, do whatever you want. You want to break the game as much as possible? Play MG/any%.
Do you want to be on the same competitive floor as the majority are capable of playing on? Play NMG. If this was locked to 30, then I can understand frustration. But 60 is a smooth experience. Not comparable to 144, but it is still not bad, and it allows for a good amount of people to compete. You can't please everyone, but you should strive to please a majority in this context. There is no 120 setting in-game, and limiting it using outside software should never be required - just as LiveSplit or SRT's are never required.
Knife strats works for all bosses in this mode - atleast from a Claire A perspective. The only difference gameplay wise is that you can't solely rely on it for any other boss than G1.
In my mind, the biggest factor for wanting to play NMG is so I can truly just stop caring about stupid things such as OoB. Can we just keep it that way? Again, I see no negatives, other than "wah I have to look at 60 fps how dreadful"
60 fps is fine, just not as the first category that is displayed on the boards, it should be a sub-category people can submit runs to, not the first thing people see when they come to the leaderboard, if more people submit to 60 fps, then change it lol, it's that easy.
the problem with that is, Variable isn't at all competitive so 60 FPS being the main makes sense. Variable is basically whoever has the better PC/console basically will always have WR. If you can't run this game at 60 FPS your computer probably barely handles this game period so i don't personally see a problem with making 60 FPS the main category
I'm also for just banning the knife in boss fights. That really is the underlying issue here.
I can't believe I'm hearing people make serious suggestions for banning knife in boss fights above locking FPS. It's honestly shocking to me. When there's zero good argument against locking FPS. Not one good argument, outside of "ew."
@Darazanjoll: I like it, there's more categories but I'd say it looks good that way. Give me that Standard / No OOB / Variable category.
@Darazanjoll @Firkraag I like the variable idea, but should it have sub categories for 120, 144, uncapped. If not, than we might as well call it pay to win category. I like the 120 cap because, it still gives the knife a nice damage boost, but people with top of the line pc's can't outrun (most) of us. BTW I have a mid-range pc. I'm for the variable category with different caps but, that will cause this game to have a lot of categories and sub categories and a lot of people hate that.
That's WAY too many categories. You gotta draw the line somewhere.
"I have World Record in Resident Evil 2 2019, New Game, Standard. Claire, A scenario, Glitchless, Variable, 120fps...."
This is insane.
I would really love to run this game but I really don't want the game to be a 60fps slideshow while I'm playing it. I'm fine with making 60+ knife being considered a glitch. Especially if not using the knife means that variable framerate runs are still allowed as glitchless.
I like it but i'd have No OoB as default but if a lot of people are running it thats cool. variable as secondary category is great. Good job
yeah i'll switch that. whatever is the most popular will be main view
@Darazanjoll I think this is a step in the right direction. Personally, I feel like variable is essentially pay2win. I think most people who ran this instead of 60 fps would not be upset about 120 softcap. Amirite?
The previous rules for NG+ said "any difficulty" so I did my runs on assisted, which now has no place on the board because it's Standard / Hardcore only? :|
With how much the boards are in flux, maybe it's best to hold off on speed running at the moment until the dust settles and the rules are known.
