Why do some runs have no videos

Runs under x time needs video proof, if u do a speedrun and u havnt got forms of proof and u do a time is not below of x the run is vàlid

I don't think there's a set proof time for this game, and there isn't for many games either, the only one I can think of is odyssey.

There are many possible reasons why a run is allowed without video. You need to remember that videos aren't the only source of verification, for example if someone streams a really good time and a bunch of people (and a moderator) see it, then that could be a valid run.

Most commonly, however, is that newer players want their times on the leaderboards, even if they don't have a way to record. So, to support this, mods often verify times without video to make them happy, and then warn them when their times are nearing a point where they kinda need video proof.

Finally, this doesn't apply to this game, but for consoles that are very difficult to record, like a 3ds, moderators are a lot more lenient when it comes to video proof.

As far as I know some of them are just lost due to people not saving their Twitch VODs (they auto delete if you dont highlight them after a while) or just youtube videos taken down/deleted etc, probably they used to have the videos but didnt take care of them

I think all categories should require video proof. Because that's the only way moderators will know if a run is 100% legit. (Not exactly)

I don't understand... You said that it's the only easy to know for sure, and then you said it's not...

Well it's not. It's the easiest way by far but not the only way. I have shared many other scenarios in which video proof may not be required to verify runs.

As for EVERY category ever requiring video proof? Not gonna happen. Sure, it would be nice, but at the end of the day people will still be allowed times on the leaderboards with no video. New players will complete and therefore submit first times off camera, especially if they're new to speedrunning in general. This is an obvious trend made very clear by looking at the times of the non-proof run and how many runs said runner has completed. You can, however, choose to ignore runs without video as proof, so if you really want a pipe-dream world of most new runners not existing, hit that filter button.

The runs without video are very old and were moved from an older leaderboard that had no video in the first place, and back then verification and rules were very different. If you notice, all of these runs have "No" selected under the Verified? column. Also, SM64 requires video for all runs and not just for when the time is lower than X:XX:XX.

Yeah, why is there a 'Yes' & 'No' colum on the SM64 leaderboards? I never got that.

Basically what @steven_ashe said, these are old runs from MarioRuns or atwiki that were grandfathered in AFTER we made it mandatory that all runs have vods. The verified column is mostly for vods with poor quality, it's just a workaround cause we can't setup anything better with speedrun.com
