These are the current skips that hold major time saves and are being implemented in Any% routing. ¤Will post more videos below once more major skips are found.¤ (I did not find any of these, I just try to apply the best possible movement.) Shoutout to Desch :p

Edit: Here is a more updated video that includes all skips used for each category with an accompanying input viewer.

Also here are optimal strats to quickly defeat all the characters in The Great Maze:

I was messing around on my stream practicing skips and I figured out a way how to skip the Sidescroller on The Battlefield Fortress. It saves about 40 seconds depending if you manage to get all the other skips. (Edit: I have timed the Sidescroller to be about 50 seconds, minus around 5-10 seconds from taking Primid from Fight 1 to enable skip) Here is an in-depth tutorial on how I managed to do it.

Here is what a PERFECT Sidescoller skip looks like.

Also here is the first time me figuring out the final piece to skipping the majority of the Sidescroller.

You can also glide above 3 staged battles on the very first subspace level with Meta Knight at the end of the level. Also, that sidescroller skip looks really good, nice find!

Hey Desch nice to see you here! Yeah I've heard about Entrance to Subspace with MK, I'll most likely post some visuals later! :D

So turns out I forgot about the stage Entrance to Subspace which has multiple skips that you glide over within seconds. I decided to showcase perfect movement, fighting and the skips for the entire stage, as well as an alternate strat if you don't believe you can glide across these sets of battles all in one (this is a pretty long glide), here ya go!

Since there seems to be some decent activity here, I might as well post some tips and tricks for this run that I've picked up over the years. This may help with your movement and can collectively improve a run by a lot when properly implemented.

  • If you pick up a Key with Zero Suit Samus, you can Down-B Footstool it, which I think makes you move faster, especially if you're not following a completely straight line.
  • Meta Knight moves faster when he's in his Down B, compared to when he's running. Combine his Down B with the Infinite Cape glitch to mave faster with him. Meta Knight also moves faster in the air while using Neutral B, at least from my experience.
  • If you land with an aerial where a door is, you can immediately enter the door. This not does not only mean that you don't have to worry about landing lag, but you can also use this to instantly enter the doors when you land. Just perform an aerial and hold up, it's even more practical if you have tap to jump on.
  • On some stages, you'll actually save some time if you first enter the stage, then quit and reenter the story mode, only to choose to play on the Intense difficulty, as this speeds up a lot of the processes in the game, most notably autoscrollers. The stages you can do this on are The Wilds (both of them) and The Glacial Peak. The Wilds with Meta Knight, Marth and Ike, you'll have to face off against Galleom on intense if you do this, so that could be a problem, and the other "The Wilds" is really difficult at intense, so it's up to you if you wanna try to do this. The Glacial Peak should be ok, tho.
  • Sometimes, it can be beneficial to quit the game in The Great Maze, notably after fighting Olimar and Peach (maybe someone else as well, I don't remember atm). After you beat them, just quit and re-enter the story mode and continue where you left off. Remember to first go into the four "safe zones" along the way, otherwise you won't be able to re-enter the stage where you want to.
  • Platform canceling can be used at certain places. In "The Ruins" there's a place where there's 3 spiky platforms that fall down from the roof. You can jump towards them and airdodge to instantly land without lag on top of them. Meta Knight can also platform cancel his aerial Up B by landing on a platform (or any ground for that matter) at the peak of his Up-B, this is especially useful if you're below a door that's located at the top of a platform.
  • When playing the subspace levels where you revive the charcaters, you should revive enough characters so that when you later on will choose from said characters, that you can choose Meta Knight by only moving your cursor once. I can't remember who exactly you need to revive to do this, but that shouldn't be too hard figuring out.
  • (Double)Jump while climbing ladders, it's just faster. You'll also avoid the animation that plays when you climb to the top of the ladder as well.
  • Dash Attack to Aerial Up-B with MK against shadow characters in the Great Maze (alternatively F-Throw into Aerial Up-B).
  • Air Dodge after launchers (those things you sometimes find, i.e. at the end of the first Pit stage)(aerials may give you landing lag).
  • Use Snake's DACUS (Dash Attack Cancel(ed) Up Smash) when using him (it's easier to perform if you hit an enemy with the first part of Dash Attack first).
  • Learn how to utilise DI, Momentum Cancel and SDI, not super important, but useful nonetheless.
  • Multihit moves that hit more than two times are generally bad, especially against weaker enemies. There are some multihit moves that are still pretty decent, like Yoshi's and Lucas' dair.

Hope this helps!

I'm not too sure when this was found but i'm pretty sure it's recent. I recently saw this in one of Ducky's runs and wanted to show it off. This fight is right before Teleport Skip.

I personally have known about this for a while now, I've been using it in all of my runs. It's even faster to just thunder the button and jump off to the right and quick attack onto the platform.

Though its risky because I think you have to damage boost off of the Cymul.

Thunder would be convenient but yeah you'd have to boost off the cymul which could end badly 50% of the time.

yeah i've also been doing this for all my runs. you can hit the switch with thunder after breaking the block & you don't need the damage boost off the cymul to make it to the other platform

Dobiiwan found this new clip randomly earlier today but wasn't recording, thought I'd try it out and got it, Skips a fight that we already skip in Wilds 1, this probably saves around 10s if done first attempt successfully.

Here's how it's done the most optimal way possible when doing a full run through Wilds 1. https://gyazo.com/4c5dbce3de2e0f79bb1905984dfa553f

Introducing The Wilds 2 Autoscroller skip found by Dragolina earlier today, we knew before we could skip over the first fight with pit that initiates the autoscroller, but had no clue that SDing skips the the entire 2nd fight, overall this saves 1m30s from what we currently know (UPDATE: PAL only).

Just to have everything in one spot. After the fight in Bomb 2 you can up B over the wall with R.O.B and skip the autoscroller which saves like 45ish seconds. You buffer jump and then up B. During the up B you want to stop up Bing then start it immediately as R.O.B carries his momentum and makes going over the wall easier and you just wall until you touch the platform with spikes and clip back through the wall. NTSC

Unsurprisingly PAL is better. You just fall down and die. Then you spawn almost all the way down.

Edited by the author 5 years ago

In PAL you have to go to the right at the complete end because you otherwise spawn directly in the autoscroller.

Originally found by Desch in November of 2018: The Pause Glitch is a glitch in which you press pause the frame you enter a fight trigger. This will allow the player to move around in the fight with an unlocked camera while the enemies and initial blast zones are still active. In some cases manipulating enemies to die earlier than usual can be performed by being a certain distance away off screen which causes enemies to instantly perish. These are the current fights that are faster using the Pause Glitch including enemy manipulation strats:

  • The Forest fight 1/Toon Link Door: (For 100%, Sonic faster in NG+, probably saves 3-4s)

In The Research Facility 1, it has been well known that the roturret fight skip was possible, but only in NG+ with Meta Knight and Pit (and probably with Snake/R.O.B.). In late December of 2019, I had finally figured out the way to skip the fight with Pikachu, allowing this skip to be performed in Any% and 100%. Time is obviously saved when doing the skip after entering the room, but does lose time to doing the skip again to exit the room due to how we previously activate and complete the fight. Doing the skip twice saves 8 seconds total against an optimal fight and ~5 seconds total against a pause glitch fight. https://streamable.com/5qfof9
