@Giffi as i mentioned in my edited post ''a humanly perfect run would be a 4.54 or a 4.53 if new knowledge is found'' last time i did a speedrun/was doing more than just answering threads in this community, the best possible time for super mario bros 1 was 8 minutes. i'm probably unaware of the new strats and all of that. so forgive me if im wrong but if new knowledge is found im pretty sure sub 4,54 is possible.
the only way a 4:53 will happen is if a big time save in 1-1 is found.
Actually 4-2 is much, much more likely. There is a strat to save another framerule in 4-2, but it doesn't push you far enough to the right for the wrong warp to work by literal subpixels. If someone finds a way to push mario enough to the right with that strategy, 4:53.7 would be the TAS.
4:54 is theoretically possible for everyone- Even me. That being said it's not likely for us XD
it is most likely for OG Speedrunners if they felt like coming back would be able to catch up and get a 4.54, it is very likely, however getting a 4.54 would probably be the best possible time for a human unless new knowledge is found. so to me i feel like even if anyone decided to pratice and get 4.54 (Which isn't as easy as you think) i don't think we're gonna see any new MASSIVE time save any time soon
SMB1 will lose a lot of its top level competition once 4:54.7 happens. After that the easiest way to save time would be to add in lightning 4-2, and I think no one's gonna want to do that in runs. But you never know, maybe someone will come along who happens to be insanely consistent at l4-2, like Miniland for TAS8-2.
Any% (NTSC) runs below 4:57.000 must now fulfill additional requirements in order to be verified.
- The run's full session must be included in the submission description.
- For emulator runs below 4:57.000, some form of input display must be visible for the duration of the run. A hand-cam or input
