Any% No Coins 1-1 through underground section

I think this is a subpixel-dependent trick because at times mario might collect a coin, and sometimes he doesn't land on the walljump pixel to the left.

How I did it: I run to the wall on the left and release left when mario is about to hit the wall. I think doing this will put mario to the exact same subpixel, but I'm not sure. Next, I do down+right and jump to do a fast acceleration, then I do another small jump in order to land on the walljump pixel, then I pause the frame Mario lands on it. Next, I switch from thumb grip to claw grip and buffer the inputs L + A, I then unpause the game and I do a full jump. Mario might land on walljump pixel to the left, and if he does, do a jump from there as well, which is enough height to get Mario on top of the underground section.

I don't think he would collect a coin when he's inside the wall, I can't be too sure since I haven't seen the trick done in a while.

Is there a way to wall clip on the bottom row? Kind of like the one people used to try in 4-2.

@hitzcritz I don't think anyone has done it but it may be possible.

I tryied and never got it, maybe it's possible but I never pulled it off

It's not possible to clip into anything while mario is falling, without collecting a coin, in any level. The coins are the thing that make the falling clips possible. The bottom row clip here is impossible.

Jetu there's the 4-2 clip. Technically you're falling when you clip into the wall. Kappa

The coins have nothing to do with the mechanics of Mario though

ok so This necro is worth it ok so I made an rrr TAS of this coin skip, and have come to the conclusion that this method costs time. Here's the math. On a normal any% run, you would complete the level in 29.7 seconds. On a no coin run going through the not underground, you would complete the level in 32.1 seconds This means that taking the underground route in any% is 2.4 seconds faster, or 7 framerules.

On the normal any% route, when you complete the underground you optimally complete it with a 380 on the timer. When you do the no coin underground route, I was able to complete the underground with a high 372 on the timer with a TAS. This means that the underground is 8 framerules slower vs the normal underground, and also means that it is 1 framerule slower than taking the upper boringo non underground path.

I have the TAS in case you want to see it.

Okey send it to the thread lol

(prepare yo ears) Yes I collected a coin, it is just meant to show that the movement is going to cost time over the overground route

But if you clip into the blocks under the coins?

@Johnny_Mandarino what is you clip into the bottom row?

What ablout going to the very left and doing a fast accel? Do you have enough speed? Probably not

Taking the pipe is multiple framerules faster in a TAS.
