everyone cant get 120 because most people play on a 60hz monitor.

@XTerminator some of us peasants can't hit 120 FPS, and the whole point is to unrig the knife, at 120 frame rate the knife is better than the shotgun for damage in regards to damage / time.

Ireland

my two cents is a frame cap is a good idea but 120 is the best middle ground. XTerminator basically says all of my points perfectly

As long as New Game Glitchless is used for the main category (Which i think will be most ran in this game, not like RE7) Its all good

Those refresh rates you find in the options corresponds to your monitors capability. If you're on a 144hz you wont be able to find 165 like I can.

@uhTrance The most popular category of Leon PC will be main. either NMG or MG

The evident situation here, is we all have different computers, we can all run at different frames. The boards will look cluttered, like RE2, but you'll please everyone, so add variable to the boards i guess.

Whatever you do, some people are going to be unhappy. FPS made a difference in RE7, same as RE2, higher FPS made multihits with the axe easier, and the run in the end was coming down to seconds between the top few runners. My old PC I couldn't get the frames needed to get those hits, so i was out of record runnings already, but nobody cared, why? Because all the big runners could make those frames, and after everyone left it didn't matter

England

i suggested 120 originally with a talk amongst mods before we moved this to the forums but was told 120 isn't possible to set, i don't have the game on PC atm so i couldn't verify this myself. But now it seems like more people want 60, but i agree 120 would be better

Pretty sure you can unlock the frame rate and just use rivatuner to get 120. apparently helps with game performance as well

As an outsider. 120fps seems like a decent baselines. I dont want them to mess this game up like they did with Resident Evil 7. Resident Evil 7 died quickly because of the how it was run. So just idk what to say. Im not a big shot speedrunner. But capping at 60 will just not be good it throws away a lot of effort simple as. Its 2019 and most of the people who want 60fps probably dont run the game. No offence to them.

I'm fine going either way. I normally hate pay-to-win, but personally would prefer 120 to be the cap since this game feels like ass at 60. Any higher than 120 is pretty absurd though and would make the run a giant memefest.

Your monitor does not dictate the fps of the game. I have a 60hz monitor but can run the game over 300fps just fine.

In my opinion, this is a well optimized game and on the lowest of low settings, most people should be able to get 120fps. I'm all for capping it at 120.

after reading everything above, I can definitely say that having the fps cap at 120 would be way better than 60

I'm all for NMG Locked FPS/MG Variable FPS. I can't consider stairskating a glitch at all but this should prevent the need for another category if we have a minor glitch found that can benefit the Locked category.

Regarding display of FPS, I personally have issues using window capture to show my FPS while playing the game and need to rely on game capture. Perhaps all runs should show the menu before Run Select to show options and settings? Unless someone can suggest a fix for mid to lower end PCs?

Also I think 60FPS should be the lock for accessibility. 120FPS is not maintainable for a lot of us, whereas 60FPS feels like a fairer majority benchmark.

A lot of people as I can see are fine for 120fps.

The point about monitors, Sabaka, is you can't CAP a monitor at 120 using vsync if your monitor only supports 60. It'll be variable, or locked at 60. Do I need to buy a 144hz monitor to run this game?

EDIT: If I can cap my framerate to 120 while using an 60hz monitor, without a third party program, I'm 100% for setting the cap to that.

Personally I prefer 120 or 144 over 60 fps, but only if is easily achievable.

RE7 is dead because it is arguably the worst speedgame of the series and only had a lot of "one an done" speedrunners because of the hype, like a lot of others newer games. If RE2R is a good game to run, people will run it with 60/120/144/free fps.

It isn't about getting the FPS, is about unbreaking the already op af knife. The knife at 120 FPS is too broken for this game, even on hardcore. The game at 60FPS feels a lot better because you simply can't knife bosses to death, but at 120FPS you just stunlock everything to death.

if you dont have a 144 hz monitor you cant cap the fps in game to 120 in game to my knowledge

Arizona, USA

^ ya there needs to be an easy way to set cap to 120 for everybody if we plan to do that

Alberta, Canada

Here's the simple thing; if we can change some settings to achieve cap at 120fps, fuck yeah. Sounds great. I agree that if we just need to sacrifice some graphical quality to run equally, then that's acceptable. But if I need to purchase a 144hz monitor just to run this game competitively AT ALL, that's fucked up.

Whatever the decision is, it needs to support any monitor the game is run on. I feel like that's common sense.

Yeah I agree if it is time for a slight pc upgrade I'm down for that, but dunking money to get a 144hz monitor just to have the option to lock at 120FPS is ridiculous IMO. Maybe 3rd party can be tested by people with mid to low end builds to even the playing field?
