Video acception problems
Illinois, USA

Recently I got a WR in MSOWG festival solo with a video (look at Brad Clair on YouTube, most recent uploaded video). If you watch you will notice that It records the beginning and end of the run. While this can be cheated, the mods aware of it know I don't cheat my runs. Yet, they don't accept it because it could be cheated while they know I didnt. I cannot upload full runs, here are exact words from my parents "If you did that (uploaded a 104+ minute video) I would punish you in some way." Also if I asked them for permission they would say no. The camera I use also would not stay recording for the whole run. And with my easycap I can't do stuffs with the parents/ internet data problem. So its not my fault. Let me know if this innaproppriate or correct. For more reasons this isn't cool contact breakdancinggamer for info about modding. Thanks for your time.

i was one of the mods at the time. I was supporting crc knowing that he never cheated by proving that to me over a skype call multiple times. He proved it as much as he could. The mod rejecting the run was The Ergkjr. He was added for no reason what so ever and quit the game as soon as he became mod. He specifically stated that he knew crc did not lie or cheat but still refused to verify the run. The original runner of this game, Origines1, sided with The Ergkjr and removed me from the mod list even though all mods knew he did not cheat his runs and have admitted that. This is not fair to crc nor me for standing up for him.

Can't you upload it in parts? like 15 mins each week? maybe your parents wont notice then. Might take some time but then you have your proof.

Well first of all its too late now. 2nd hmm wouldn't that still use the same amount of Internet data? Also I know this sounds dumb but I can't sign into my YouTube account on my own its my dads, I can't have my own.

no because in order to do that he would either have to do the run in one sitting which his camera can not record the full run or do it in seperate sittings which is not allowed

Look I don't want suggestions. I want support from people. Site Admins or something . to get ergkjr to accept this run and restore peace to the MSOWG community

It isn't as important for runs below it, but for WR runs having a video is necessary in a lot of games. No matter how much you trust someone, without proof you can just say any time you feel like, or just pause the game for a moment and step away, redo segments, or just in general cheat. And without the video, nobody can see what strats you do and use them to improve their own runs, or learn from your video if they want to get into the game. It's a sucky situation where you aren't allowed to upload or record entire videos, but would you be fine with someone coming out of nowhere, saying they beat your WR by a decent amount of time, but they didn't record it and to just trust them?

I just don't understand the entire notion that you can "know someone isn't cheating" by just seeing the beginning and end of a video. Wish there was a way around it for you so you can run these games, but until you can figure something out I don't see a problem with rejecting the run.

  1. I would be happy to help anyone coming to the game wanting to learn strats, just ask me in the forums.
  2. You saw me start a new file and the only way to get out of the festival without saving is to reset. Now while my file was on day 16 I was unaware of it at the time and I promise I would never do that. This is the only way I could've cheated and I did not cheat.
  3. By seeing the beginning and ending of the run you can tell that I started at a new save file and didn't exit out and got all the way to dry bowser without resetting and pressing continue.
  4. There is absolutely NO WAY during a run my timer, msplit, can switch segment times without resetting the timer.

"Can't you upload it in parts? like 15 mins each week?" "2nd hmm wouldn't that still use the same amount of Internet data? "

  • It would take the same or a little bit more actually. You could try to render the videos with a different codec and maybe reduced bits which would decrease the video-size. But when you have multible parts, you can upload them to different times. If you're not allowed to upload X amount of data on a day/week/month/whatever, then just upload it whenever you can. Simple as that.

"4. There is absolutely NO WAY during a run my timer, msplit, can switch segment times without resetting the timer." If you're able to use an video-editing software, you are easily able to cut together segments without touching the splits at all. And when the splits are transparent and positioned over the game, you may have only edited the raw game footage and then put the splits above it. There're many and hard to prove-able ways to edit Videos. But that's a hole other topic.

"Also I know this sounds dumb but I can't sign into my YouTube account on my own its my dads, I can't have my own."

  • You're not allowed to have a own one? How old are you, 6? I'm sorry when I sound rude with that but it's true man xD Or does one of your parents sit next to you all the time you use the pc? Anyways, this is not a debate about that, I'm just curious.

1.I guess it would make since to do one like every month but what breakdancinggamer said about not being able to do it all in one sitting is absoulutely correct. I can't do it in one sitting with the camera I use, it won't do it. 2. I use movie maker on windows 7 laptop to edit my videos and save them with captions. I have no idea how to edit raw files and everything and change splits, I just record what I can with the splits below. 3. I am 12. My parents don't let me have my own YT account and also I can't have my own twitch account either. My parents do not watch everything I do, they don't give me reasons I just have to deal with them always holding it off. Once again, I am NOT looking for suggestions. I am looking for people who will help me stand off against TheErgkjr and help accept my runs. I am done with the category and am trying to get my run accepted

The fact that people believe me that I did the run but they refuse to accept the run just because I COULDVE cheated. Although most people know I don't have enough tools to cheat and I did not load any unsaved file. OK I'm going to unleash the ultimate weapon now; IF YOU BELIEVE A RUN REALLY HAPPENED WITHOUT CHEATING WHY NOT ACCEPT IT?

There's a difference in ACCEPTING and VERIFYING something. I CAN accept that your run could have happend without cheats, but I CANNOT verify it based on the facts you have given us.

If a moderator was next to you/you've done the run on a public marathon (like the GDQ's or ESA for example) - where multible people can verify that you actually didn't cheat - during the run, then that video could be accepted and be allowed to be used as verification. Since this is not the case, no verification.

" IF YOU BELIEVE A RUN REALLY HAPPENED WITHOUT CHEATING WHY NOT ACCEPT IT?"

Because there are rules and those rules are the same for everyone. I would not even think about submitting a WR run without any "full" video proof because nobody can really be sure I didn't cheat anywhere.
