Darazonjoll's 48:53 LeonA WR

Hey,

Just wanted to say congrats to Darazanjoll on his new LeonA WR! I don't play anymore, but I've been checking the scene now and then for a while. I'm amazed at the new strats that have been found since I was on the scene in 2005ish as well as the growth in general for RE2 speedrunning.

Congrats Darazanjoll, and looking forward to seeing how the category continues to progress.

Fuck me running, you're actually here

Trevor what's your version of PlayStation Driver on the system that you used for your Claire A run on PS2? PLEASE for the love of christ tell me you still have that system.

That being said, trying to get on par with your run is a monstrous task. People couldn't get close to it for years but I just now discovered it was because you were lucky enough to have a version of PlayStation driver that got patched out when people installed their Network Driver discs.

It's funny, like a time machine almost, you've moved on with your life, and I'm still here trying to beat your run 7 years later.

Haha, sorry Carc, that thing is long gone. I remember thinking that system was pretty quick even back in the day. Fortunately we have the PC version where everyone's on the same level with loading times it seems. Hope you're doing well dude, it's been a while.

Thank you Trevor ^^

I did some framecouting of the run afterwards and the big mistakes added up to almost 12 seconds in total. Since the time has gotten so low a "big" mistake would be like 0.5-1 second.

damn, i was hoping i would finally determine the cause. i'm less interested in knowing for speed and more interested in knowing for technical reasons because PSP loads PS1 the fastest overall.

you remember which modchip it was at least? in the event the modchip has some kind of influence, i want to install chips in various units to try it out.

also, given that you're here, if you get the itch and want to run it again, hit me up and i will get you caught up on streaming stuff. lotta shit's changed since SDA.

OMG Trevor is here! You're amazing!

Rebecca13 - Thanks, but it is really you and other newer players like Darazanjoll and Magn00zl and everybody else who otherwise keeps RE speedrunning alive who are amazing.

Carc - I used a boot disc, but unfortunately don't remember exactly which one. I also raised the PS2 and used a fan to help cool it after hearing how ZENO would do that. Thanks for the offer on getting me up to speed on current speedrunning practices. To be honest, I was tempted to give Leon A on PC a shot after seeing the immense growth in the scene, but I really don't have room in my life for the hobby anymore. This is e.g. because I have a son who is nearly a year old, and I need to focus on my career and family for the foreseeable future.

Good luck to all RE runners, and look forward to seeing how the scene continues to evolve.

Can someone please use my 4 plug route? lol

God damn dude, congratulations. I figured this is where you would be right now, don't ask me how.

It's great to hear from you again after all these years and I'm happy to hear you're putting the 110% you gave everything else I've seen you do into the things that are important to you now.

I should have considered you mentioned having a Breaker Pro disc a long time ago. I thought the SCPH-77001 you had was modded for some reason. I no longer have the uncut video you sent me unfortunately (or maybe it's on another HDD) but I finally found a PS2 that loads as fast as yours.

As for the 4 plug route, well. I think the reason we don't do 4 plug anymore is because avoiding the club key, avoiding the item box, and getting the library plug early actually balances it out and is safer at the cost of ~2sec overall.

i wish i was as good as you lot, but i suck at the game. i want to also say congrats to Darazanjoll, his speedrun was jaw- dropping, i don't think leon A can be beaten any further now!

Nice to see you here, Trevor! Hope things have going well for you since your departure from speedrunning. Thanks for all the time and effort you put in during your active years. I learned a lot from watching your REmake runs!

Nice to see you here, Trevor! Your RE2 Leon A run was one of the first speedruns I watched on SDA back in 2005.
