Games to start with (Easy glitches or glitchless)

Hey hey hey.

I want to start speedrunning but I have no clue what games to start with. I'm looking for games with easy glitches or glitchless to speedrun like Shenmue 2 speedrun (glitched) easy. I'm just looking for ones that aren't super hard like SM64 backjump, any ideas from anyone, if you need more info about what type of games, just ask but I think i've mentioned everything i'm looking for.

Thanks in advance :)

What platforms do you have available to you and do you have any specific genre in mind?

All of the TTGames Lego games are really fun to play and I've enjoyed running them, there is a decent community around the games, but there are some of the games that don't have any runs/routes/glitches done or found for them.

Crash Bandicoot 2 and Crash Bandicoot 3 (Warped) are both extremely linear and straightforward games. There's not really much to learn if you don't care about getting very good right away.

Rocket Knight Adventures is a very underrated speedrun. Not much in the way of glitches at all, the game is REALLY solidly coded, and it's more just about how well you understand the stage layouts, how to move quickly and how well you can dispatch bosses. A very good speedrun if you like old 2D action/platformer games, but don't want to play Sonic and are looking for something a little different.

How about Escape Plan? It's on PS4 and PS Vita. It's a puzzle platformer where you have to get one or both protagonists (the aptly-named Lil and Laarg) from the start to the exit. There are no known glitches and very little random elements to the game -- it's highly technique-driven. A very easy game to learn, but a hard one to play well fast!

Greece

http://www.speedrun.com/Swords_and_Sandals_1_Gladiator Fun small RPG that is glitchless with a guide included under the Guides section. It is pretty short, too (usually under 30 minutes).

MegaMan Powered Up is very linear, and it's not too hard to get a decent time in the game. There's no real resources to learn the game but just hmu and I'll help you with whatever you need. [Also game is on PSP, emulator is fine as we use ingame time to compare anyways.]

Metal Gear Solid 2 Snake Tales & Tanker (not E-Ex) are pretty easy to run. (^^)

First step to figure that out should normally be; Pick a platform you are comfortable playing on and has games you like playing preferably allot. Check and test to make sure you can capture or record the game if you wish to upload run videos later on. Playthrough the game(s) you wish to speed run multiple times as thoroughly as possible and to start glitchless usually results in a better understanding of the basics of the game, then getting more advanced with it I would say go for glitching or what ever you feel like afterwards as you gain a better grasp of the game and the knowledge of the games routing etc.

If your new to speed running understand that most games can take a long time in one sitting to complete, so picking a short game of only an hour or so in length would be an ideal start for a newcomer.

Kirby's Dream Land is linear, pretty easy and also very, very short (there are only 5 levels). I recommend trying that game first.
