Category request: Hitless

I'd like to request we add a Hitless category (for obvious reasons) with the specific following ruleset:

The "McQueeb Run" Rules: • No damage of any kind (environmental, enemy, self, etc) • Random seeds only • Proceed through the "intended" gameplay path • No skipping levels • No wands dropped by the ghost (gold drops are ok) • No Invisibilium, Teleportitis, Teleportatium, Ambrosia or Glass Cannon • No alchemy, even if found by luck

Considering there has been no objection to this set of rules, I have made the Hitless category, as it has been suggested here, unaltered.

Thank You mcqueeb :D

on the no alchemy rule, I assume this forbids using water to get rid of toxic sludge. Would that be correct?

No, I don't believe so. That's just washing off your cape

I mean spraying water to transform toxic sludge in the environment so that you can traverse it without taking damage

Missouri, USA

Sorry, I misunderstood.

As I understand the ruleset, the prohibition on alchemy refers to Alchemic precursor, lively concoction, void liquid and the like.

You can see McQueeb turn some sludge into water in the original run

So, cleaning sludge is ok.

Awesome, just wanted to make sure I didn't accidentally DQ a run. Thanks!

A question as to the rules, what is the reasoning for disallowing glass cannon? I can sorta understand the other ones, but why glass cannon? I can't really think of a single thing glass cannon actually has to do with completing the game hitless, and as such I feel like it shouldn't be a part of the rules. I could be missing something about why it's a part of the rules, but personally I feel like it's a restriction for no reason.

Glass Cannon is against the rules because the drawback of the perk is the lowered HP.

Since the rules of the category disallow damage anyway, it becomes a massive damage up with no drawback and was seen to contradict the spirit of play by making it too easy.

The ruleset was made long before the 'hitless' pillar achievement bearing McQueeb's beard and has little correlation.

Ah, I guess that makes sense, thanks for the answer!

I have a question about the rules. The hitless rule says "No alchemy, even if found by luck", what exactly does this mean?

For example, ・water + Toxic Sludge = water → OK ・Alchemic Precursor → OUT ・Slime + Fire → Slime Mist → ? ・water + Concentrated Mana = Concentrated Mana → ? ・Any metal+ Concentrated Mana = Steam → ? ・Flummoxium + Oil and Blood = Unstable Polymorphine → ?

Those rules were made back in early access, when there were only a fraction of the current reactions in-game. We should probably have a larger discussion again about the rules. They are referring specifically to AP/Midas, though. LC is a heal, which bears no use for a no-hit run, but Midas can be used to tunnel through the entire game world easily, as well as providing enough gold to purchase anything in HMs that is desired - this would go against the spirit of the category.

We clarified the rules a little bit after you submitted your run Daa (great run btw) to disallow "Rare" alchemy specifically, i.e. Midas or LC. While using Unstable Polymorph functionally acts as invisibility it also takes a lot of time to set up, and you typically move slower while polymorphed than you would as Minä. A run that doesn't use it and manages not to get hit would probably be a lot faster than activating Unstable Poly the whole time.

OK, I understand. Thanks for the answer!
